Does anyone else’s air conditioner seem like it’s restricted? When I have it on high/full blast it still feels very lackluster like it’s on maybe medium on any other truck. it doesn’t blow very hard at all?

Also but probably not related to when you have the heat turned on and you turn it back down to a lower temperature let’s say 65 continues to blow pretty hot until you turn it all the way to low and then back up to 65 any thoughts? Thanks y’all.

I feel this way about mine. The main dash vents are very lack-luster. Where as the rear console vents kick ass. I don't get it. The blower makes more nose on high like it should be making your hair flow in the breeze but the result at the vent is "meh" at best.

Exactly, it’s not until you go down to”LO” if you have it on recirculate mode and on face or head “mode” and then you go down to LO ,you’ll hear it kind of switch and become quieter and actually blow harder like it supposed to. I tried posting a video of all this but it won’t load let me know if used those as well. No way this is how it’s supposed to be. It’s noise as hell and has no pressure until you do the steps that I stated above. I fear that this will become a recall issue but until then Toyota will say there’s nothing wrong with it.

Stupid question but did you hit the A/C on button? I thought the same thing but wasn’t hitting that button and now that I do it’s get colder in the truck. Now I’m not sure if that’s a max ac feature or what as I haven’t read the manual.

And just what you could’ve figured Toyota told me everything‘s in working order and that’s the way it’s made it only blows harder when it’s set in “LO” temp. The technician was like yeah I totally see your complaint hopefully there’s a recall on it but this is the way it is we checked other tundras. It sounds very petty and minor but when you’re in 95° summer and sweating your ass off in your brand new $62,000 truck kind of makes you bite yourself in the ass I’m pretty positive I’ll be looking for a new GMC

My new SR5 TRD Sport is the same way, anemic from the vents. My '19 Platinum could freeze you to death, so this is definitely not normal. I had to check if it was even turned on, more than once.

Exactly! The only way I know it’s on is it’s loud as hell. It sounds as loud as the defroster, or louder, but has nothing blowing out barley. Turn it to Lo and you’ll hear the blender door shut and it get quiet and blows harder. But that’s not going to cut it. I shouldn’t have to have it on
The way low for my ac to work. I’m
Legit going to GMC tomorrow while this tundra is still tradable. Sounds so petty, but if I’m in my truck sweating in 70° weather, what happens in 95° Weather? Nahhh

Did you make sure the recirculation buttion is on? This will be your max ac and should kick the blower in to high. Also, did you try closing the rear vents as well?

Yep, I always run recirculate. Yeah, that may help, closing the rear vents, but we shouldn’t have to, ya know?

I hear you. Been too cold yet in Minnesota for me to run the AC but we can get some hot, sticky humid weather in the summer. Better work. If I didn't have rear passangers in my 16 CM I would shut the rear vents for better front air flow. Maybe my vented seats will come in handy after all?

Crazy to think a Toyota engineer would test this AC system and give it a thumbs up for production.

I checked my ac airflow on the center vents and agreed it felt restricted. When I switched the climate control to auto, the center vents airflow was very strong. I don’t understand the logic of why Toyota would allow normal airflow in auto but restrict airflow in manual mode.

I am having the same issue with my 22 limited. Brought it into the dealer and they said they thought it was very odd but the other 22 tundras on site all had the same behavior. Thankfully mine seems to push out air pretty well when I have the AC set to Lo. So the truck cools down pretty quickly. As soon as I set the manual temp up above "LO", it seems like the air flow is being restricted in the front. The rear is blasting still though. Very odd and hopefully they get this fixed by next winter o_O

I wonder, what is the difference between the car AC vs home AC? I want to call a Home AC contractor to fix my car's AC, I wonder if they can do it? Because My friend is a home AC Contractor and I just want to save some money by asking him to help me out.

Wish mine was better as well. Comparing to my 2008 Highlander to this and the Highlander wins all day long. I mean I know it’s a larger vehicle and it is working but with the climate set for 70 it doesn’t blow as much as I’d have thought, gotta take it to 67 or below to really feel like it’s working better…

Same here... bought mine in Montana. Technician and I tried other Tundras on lot - same issue. Fan works better (not great) w/recirculating air on. Although I love this truck now (700 miles), I have a feeling the poor fan motor performance will change my opinion (especially in the winter). Fingers crossed all of our complaints/objections to this issue will be handled properly by Toyota.

I don’t know what you all are on about. My AC works fantastic. I’m in Flora-Bama (Mobile area) for work and it’s satans nutsack hot here right now. My truck freezes me out, and I’m the most hot natured person I know. I start on low for a bit and usually have it turned up around 70 at the end of a 20 minute drive. Build date was May… Shouldn’t make a difference though. :notsure:

We have some of the highest humidity in the country here in South Louisiana. It’s been in the 90’s and the AC seems fine to me.
It doesn’t blow as hard as my 17 did but it still blows plenty hard enough.

I'd agree that the ventilated seats are loud and not very effective, but the AC works great for me.

I am in south florida and I would say that the 22 i just picked up requires me to set the temp lower than I did in the 21 I traded in. I don't have a problem cooling the truck down but I highly doubt its really cooling my truck to 64 degrees. I feel like maybe the temp sensors for the AC are not very accurate

My AC works awesome!! I need to close the shade on the pano roof though if I want it to really cool down (common sense).

Just rolled of the lot in my new Limited DC… a/c blows ice cold and powerful on LO… adjusting the temp manually doesn’t seem to affect the strength one bit, just the temp…

ventilated seats are audible if setting still and quiet… radio on don’t notice it… I have noticed the upper back area is felt much more than anything down below…

My blower and AC work just fine…gets real cold, especially when I take it off of Auto and manually adjust settings. I have used the defrost and AC so far and absolutely no complaints. Very happy.

it is in the settings; I thought so too, at first. If the truck is in economy mode and climate control is on, the AC is laughable. but if you turn the ac on via button, it works well

I have more of a problem with a AC not being cold than I do the blower. Driving with AC on in normal drive mode. I can't imagine being stuck in 100 deg weather.
