Not everyone loves window deflectors - but for me they are really handy. I sleep in the back of the cab from time to time and they help with ventilation. I also like being able to park and crack the windows in the summer without people being able to see they are open.

I just purchased Weathertech In-Channel deflectors. I've only ever used the adhesive style that stick to the door - I don't even think I knew I purchased the in-channel style. I'm not happy with them. My window barely rolls up and down now. Seems like it's going to be hard on the window regulators. From the videos and images I've seen, doesn't seem like I installed them wrong. I'll let them sit overnight and see if it eases up after a while.

Anyone here who has these and wants to come to their defense? Otherwise I think they might be getting returned.

I have them on my Tundra, and had them on my last 4Runner. Never had a problem... I really like them. However, I also have them on my wife's Subaru Outback, and have developed a problem there. On the driver's window, the deflector sticks into the window channel too much and stops the window from closing. (The safety feature that keeps the window from pinching fingers kicks in, and puts the window back down.) To get around this you have to raise the window until it almost reaches the deflector, then push out on the deflector while raising the window the rest of the way (and try not to pinch your finger doing it!) Mrs TV is not a fan. She liked them very much until they started doing this. I believe the deflector developed a crack in the rear-most part of it.

I use them like you do: to crack the windows in the summer when parked. I put a reflector in the windshield too and it makes a huge difference in the inside temps. As an added bonus, my truck is 23 years old, keeping the sun's damaging rays off the interior is going to help keep plastic from cracking and fabrics from fading/braking down.

They are most def functional…but as a window tinter really don’t like them.
If I had to run a set the flat style that adhesive stick on the molding would prob be what I would choose.
The Subaru lineup has pretty touchy auto/safety windows
The ones that rest in channel are really hard on the edge of the glass
We put a lot of love on edges filing and or shaving the film for a clean finish.
Tough when you see your work all scratched up from the visors.
    My 2 cents

I have them on mine. They were a bit large and I had to shave them down a bit. No excessive force on the windows that I can see.

I have them on my minivan and they’re great . They were tight when I first put them on but after the first 24 hours of leaving the window up and a couple more times of putting the window down and up they’ve been fantastic .

I just installed them on my 06 DC and all are fine but the driver side. I heard it crack on install and WeatherTech sent me a replacement. I'm still having the same issue. Window barely rolls up and I have to push outwards on the visor as my window is rolling up.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to mitigate this, please do tell! It's odd that my passenger side is fine... I even tried cleaning out the channel, but no luck.

Sounds like WeatherTech once again has problems with their product fitment.

After the shit experience I had with their 'laser fit' floor mats, I had to contact their support team. No ownership for my fitment problem at all, which was clearer than day: They never tested their product in a truck with power seats. And my seat smashed the wall of the mat, causing the whole mat to buckle.

Their response, truncated: "Can't confirm. No point in returning. Only option is to cut the mat to fit".

I'd just paid $100 for that rear mat. And I wasn't impressed with the fitment of the front mat either.

One day people will learn: Don't bother buying WeatherTech products. Not only does WeatherTech do a sub-par, piss-poor job of measuring and testing for tolerances across the range of "compatible" vehicles, they also don't bother to stand behind their products or your happiness with them.

I just put my Weather Tech channel window deflectoers in last Friday, and they work perfect. I had to adjust the fitment, the front drivers side window was extremely tight at the very top but now it is fine. I have a second gen tundra and I had to cycle the window numerous times before I could get them to roll up without binding but they are fine now.

Press outwards at the front to get it started as you roll it up and leave it up a couple days with the sun out. Iirc the rubber channel will form to it a bit and then it may be ok from then on out. Ymmv

Had to do that with my avs in channel visors as well.

Reporting back now that my rage has subsided. It was pretty cold and windy when I installed the deflectors, as spring usually is around here. However we have now had several sunny and warm days, and the fitment of the visor in the window channel has improved some. They still really slow the window down on closing and if you're not careful, you could leave the window cracked open without realizing. Good thing the visor is there I guess...

Anyways - I'm going to leave WeatherTech a review. Not planning on returning them but I am underwhelmed with how they make the window operate.

Perhaps, if you're like me, a hot sunny day will allow the window channel to flex a lot more, and you should hopefully see some improvement after a few days of that.

If things go south and you wish to choose another mfg, AVS has served me well on my 04 DC for 14 years. The below is what I bought and even tho it says Access Cab, it fits DC perfectly. Some might not like outside mount but I've had no issues.
