Edit: Tundra currently has a deposit on it & is being held until next Saturday the 29th. Pending payment & pickup. I was to late unfortunately.

I am currently shopping 1st. Gen and 2nd. Gen Tundra’s.
However I will only buy a Regular Cab Long Bed truck. (Personal preference)

    I’ve found a White 2003 SR5 Regular cab Long bed 4x4 tundra that’s 100% rust free.
160k. Miles with fairly decent amount of service records.
What would be a “buy it immediately” price for this truck?
    White is my favorite color!

6500 bucks in my area and I’d be showing up to buy that truck immediately. Depending on the part of the country that you are in…it may be worth a little more or a little less.

I'd say $5k easily since its desirable for contractors.

Thank you! That gives me an idea of what I need to negotiate. The owner is asking for more $ than you quoted, however not by alot.

If it’s close to that go for it if you ask me. Just be prepared to change all fluids and put a new timing belt on as well as lower ball joints in the front end. For someone else to do all that work is probably close to 3 grand but the truck would be 100% solid afterwards. Just make sure you factor in the maintence needed to make it last a while.

Easily. Prices are crazy in my area too. If they've got around 100k miles, they're pushing 20k on the price. There's a 1st gen listed for $7500 that has 275K miles

I mean, it's got about $1k-1.5k in paint work needed to cut it out to a high shine again and seal it. The solid non-metallic trucks are single stage and that one is chalked to hell. Link in my sig so you can see what about 10 hours work will get you if you have the supplies and know-how.

Assuming it's had the timing belt and water pump done at least once in its lifetime, $4k-5k or less is a "don't walk away" price if nicely optioned. $10k-11k is a "eh, not really doing me any favors here, eh?" and $13k-16k in my neck of the woods is a "ok, I get it, you don't want to get rid of the truck".

Truck is a 6-hour drive from me.
Also looking at a 2nd. Gen. 2015 Single cab tundra.
Trying to decided;…… Newer, Nicer and more capable Truck for double the price? Or save money buy the 1st. Gen. An be satisfied.

If truly a rust free truck, and the big things are done (timing belt, water pump, maybe the BJs) and it wasn't used to tow all the time, and it's decently optioned, I think it's a pretty damn good deal. I suspect @Tundra2 probably would've liked his to be there, I expect he's in the ballpark of 7-8k or more on his already, including the buy-in price. 6hr drive ain't nothin, I used to drive 8 each way to visit my parents when they were still in the big dick-shaped state of the southeast.

You are asking the wrong melon farmers this question. They will say buy the best gen (2003) and save a ton of cash. Then after you buy it you will be convinced to spend a small countries GDP on your new old truck.

    Original post has been updated.
Just got off the phone with the owner. Truck is being held for someone else until Saturday the 29th. Pending there payment.
I hesitated for to long I guess.

If you want it you can offer a PayPal deposit now and tell them you will come pick it up with the rest. If they don't have a deposit on it, they might be wasting their time. You just can't trust buyers these days. If you were on the fence, just let it go. I looked for a clean first gen for a good 2 years before I found one. Most of them would sell in under a day and would be a couple of hours away from me. I'm by no means saying to throw money blindly at one. Figure out exactly what you want and study what to look at on them on here. I was patient and didn't compromise and am happy with my purchase.

As you have seen I have both of the trucks you are considering.

If you have the cash you will really appreciate the added power and capability of the newer truck,I know I do!

I thought I would sell the 1st Gen when I got the newer one but I cant seem to?

I love them both but especially on long cross country drives which are a regular thing for me the newer bigger truck is just better in every way.

As you know, those regular cabs are hens teeth. I looked at least 6 months before I found mine. If the 2015 is still available, maybe your decision got made for you. If you want this one, like the previous post said, show up with the money and pay the man. Regular cabs with the SR5 goodies seem really rare.
