Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
Over in the Hellcat Forums there are constant threads circulating around regarding anti-theft measures. Tranny neutral pull blocks, kill switches, pull specific fuses to cut off fuel pumps, sophisticated alarms, numerous gps tracking devices. Is theft an issue with these and how are you guys securing your trucks? I’ve been considering a kill switch. Thanks.

I simply stay away from and don't park in shitty areas, leave nothing of value in sight, lock the doors and take the keys with me. If only it were that easy to deter all thieves! If they want it bad enough, they're going to get it no matter what you do.

I think the real question is, what is your inconvenience to piece of mind ratio? How far are you willing to go to feel safe? And how long will the sequence of "unarming" your security fixes take you every time you get in the truck? Generally speaking, I would think less inconvenience = easier for thieves to figure out and overcome.

There's some good YouTube videos on different kill switch locations. I think this is the most practical and probably the least expensive option especially compared to advanced alarm systems.

I lock my doors and try to leave nothing valuable in sight. I think most thefts are opportunistic. Just don’t make it easy. If someone wants something bad enough they can get it. And if they do well I got insurance and my life is way fucking better than theirs. Help if you don’t live in a shit area but stuff happens everywhere.

I just thought of that key and peele sketch where they are thinking of a plan to steal and one plan just ends up being a normal job.

I had this product (Ravelco Anti Theft Device) installed on my wifes FJ and my Tundra when we moved to Maui. Thankfully they were never put to the test, but it definitely gave me piece of mind.

Toyotas are worth their weight in gold on the islands. When we moved to Montana from Maui, I sold the FJ and Tundra for slightly more than what we paid for them 5 years earlier.

I was born and raised in Phoenix. So, I loved the weather on Maui. The late spring, summer, early fall are beautiful in Montana...I HATE the winters. We moved to Montana to care for my wife's Mom, after she was diagnosed with cancer. After she passed, we decided that despite the winters, Montana had a lot going for it. So, we stayed.

Different cultures have different nuances, but at the end of the day, my experience has been that people are pretty much the same wherever you go.

Leave it hovering on empty all the time. Most thieves probably aren't going to stop for gas.

I had a Viper alarm installed. Allegedly when armed, it cuts power to the starter or something. I like the Viper alarm because with the factory alarm, it will go off if the window is smashed, but with the Viper, it will go off if someone tests the door handle to see if its unlocked, saving me a window.

Now, between my wife's Lexus and my 2023 Tundra, we have two of the most stolen vehicles in the Ontario, Canada, area. We don't park in the garage, but other than keeping our keys in a tin box so no cloning hanky panky can occur, we just don't worry about it. We live in a small town just North of London Ontario, so that keeps the likelihood down as well.....maybe.

I install kill switches on all my vehicles. The problem with insurance is they'll go with blue book values. For those of us with first gens those values are quite low compared to the actual market. Not to mention when I purchase a vehicle, I usually do a bunch of maintenance for peace of mind. If it's stolen and I have to buy another, I just lost all that time and money. To me the hour to install and the seconds to activate a kill switch are well worth it to avoid the previously mentioned headaches.

    What part of what? Maui?

We lived in Honokowai, and after a couple of years we moved to Kula, which was spectactular. I continued to work in Honokowai, and commuted from Kula to Honokowai every day. When the Island shut down, that commute bacame much shorter in time. Experiencing the island without tourists was a real gift. Not hating on tourism.

Oh...haha! We are in Billings. Technically, just outside of the city, but not isolated.
