What are the best engine and cabin air filters out there for our trucks?

Good evening everyone. Went in for an oil change a week ago, and the service advisor recommended the "45k Toyota service" along with the engine and cabin air filter fluid. I asked him how much would the service be for the air filters and he quoted me a total of $100. I told him to only do the oil change and I will do the air filters myself. I looked around online specifically EBAY, and there were tons of choices and brands available. I know this question has been asked like a million times, but this is my first time performing a filter change. Thanks in advanced!

I use Wix brand filters from Napa Auto Parts.

Engine oil filters are either OEM Toyota, Wix, Mobil 1, Bosch, or K&N.

    Anything but Fram garbage.

Cabin air filters are either OEM or even Fram. Not critical to me.

Intake air filters are Wix, OEM, or K&N.

WIX is my go to for when OEM stuff becomes unavailable.

The Million Mile Tundras used OEM. That's good enough for me!

There’s a million threads on this topic. The search bar will assist.

In short and what seems to be general consensus, stock is best for majority of applications.

I change the cabin air filter in my wifes highlander 2x a year. since we use so much AC and its dusty. OEM stock works. I dont think any of the gimmicks like activated charcoal or febreeze really make a long lasting difference

There is a study out there from the 2000’s that compared several.

Edit: I was wrong. AC Delco OEM filter won…it was a test by a GM duramax owner. A machine designed to perform the ISO 5011 test was used.

However, Wix did perform toward the top of the pack in the tests along with AFE and Baldwin filters, which I have not heard of.

Wix makes quality air and oil filters.

Thank you all for responding. Anyone know a good place to buy OEM or WIX engine air filters online? I can only find OEM Cabin Air filters in Amazon and EBAY. Thanks again.

Use the parts website and find the dealer closest that has them the cheapest. Toyota offers free shipping over $75. https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/category/parts

I just had intake and cabin filters replaced at the dealership. Carmax was paying for it so let them do it. Both were pretty dirty at 31k miles. I think it's made an improvement on acceleration although I'm just doing gentle acceleration. IDK maybe I'm just adjusting the truck and like it more each time I drive it, but basic maintain and getting wheels aligned has made a huge difference and I love driving it now.

The bosch hepa cabin filter kicked butt with the wildfire smoke plaguing us this week and it's only about twelve bucks. I couldn't smell it when in the truck at all.

How long until it plugs up, who knows, but at least it's inexpensive.

Anyone know the part number for the Lexus carbon cabin air filter that fits? We get a lot of smoke from wildfires here and want the best.

The best one is a clean one. Brand doesn’t matter as long as it’s clean. I’d rather have a brand new cheap one instead of a top of the line dirty filter.

AFE Pro Dry Filters, easy to clean and maintain! I Vote a K&N Cleanable Cabin Air filter as well because its way cheaper to spend the $50 on one for the life of your truck because your standard cabin air filter's are anywhere from $12-25 depending on where you get one from!

I have the trd intake and keep an extra filter clean and ready to swap. I do the same and have the k&n reusable cabin air filter. Both seem to work very well.

I’m guessing the OP took care of this already but here’s my $.02.
Engine I use Toyota air filter. Cabin I went with Fram because it has a metal screen on it, just in case critters get in, hopefully they don’t get past filter. I put screen under the windshield cowl already but my vehicles live outside and my property is 1.5 acres of grass and woods. I also use peppermint oil under the hood. Seems to work.

That’s one of the main reasons I went with the k&n rewashable filter…..has metal and was hoping it would deter the possibility of rodent chewing through

    I’ve always used Wix filters.
