What are these stubs on the frame?

So, I ran into a problem trying to install AMP powersteps today. One of these little transverse cantilever stubs on the frame that sticks out toward, but does not connect to, the running board is in the way of one of the motors so it won't physically fit. AMP says they aren't on all Tundras, but they have run across this issue before and are willing to take the kit back. These things don't connect to the body or anything else or have any visible purpose. I was wondering if anyone here knows what they are?? I am thinking of cutting this one back toward the frame with an angle grinder and/or reciprocating saw to make clearance.

Can't be. It isn't attached to anything other than the frame itself. Not to the bed, not to the body. Nothing. It is just cantilevered out and ends in mid air.

There are a couple on each side. Not sure if they match up exactly side to side.

That's what AMP was wondering. If some hybrid frames got diverted.

Take a more overall pic of that area so I can ID where it's at and I'll look under my hybrid to see if it has the same.

Just under the rear door looking out towards the rocker panel. The bolt holes are for the OEM running boards at the rear driver's side... the aftermarket guys use the same holes. Mine is a DC so the "brace" or whatever may not be in the same place.

They look like unused cab mounts. You said you have the DC? Maybe those are for the CrewMax cab.

Or they are there for the hybrids for support of the battery. But I have a feeling cab configuration is going to be a part of it, HV or not.

Looks to me like crash bars. Kinda like the one in wheel well that people chop off when going 37’s. In the case you get T boned. Aluminum body is soft, easily crumples and pinning the driver/passengers.

Strange. Just went and looked and I have one on the driver side roughly middle of the front door.

That at least makes a little sense, to protect the passenger compartment at the doors from side collision. Taking a few inches off shouldn't hurt much, and people don't fit in the back of this DC anyway.

In the Collision Biz & Embarrassed I don't know. I WILL Find out , We have yet to pull 22/23 Tundra frame , will pull up my own truck specs tomorrow see if they are target points to check frames , or collision safety points, possibly both . will check if they have anything to do with the Sequoia body mounting or trim package i could see that happening. Will post update

I’ll take some pics of mine when I get it back from the dealer. They are presently looking into my diff whine…I do remember seeing something like that when I ran the harness for the Go Rhino steps.

Update…it’s going to be a while before I can help. The diff on my truck with 1,100 miles on it has to be replaced. Metal filings everywhere. Glad it happened before I went on any long trips.

found out very little - Attempted to pull up my Trucks Frame specs today, Shocker awaiting on software update for 23/24 Toyotas. 2022 dose not show them brackets as messaging points , nor can we put a repair on it thus making it a none repairable part, nor was there are part# perhaps this is different for 23/24? witting on the update. Makes good conversation they would be Collision points keeping occupants safe from being branded by the grille emblem of what ever hit ya? best of luck with the running boards, maybe another brand will not require cutting in to your Rig?
I thought great spot to attach hidden Rock sliders.

IDK... the body has several stout ribs built into in that direction already, adjacent to these mystery things. In any case the 2 rear ones on mine are now stubbier. First the one had to go for the drivers side motor, then the passenger side one had to go for the linkage brace. Bit of a PITA but it's done. And the new boards work a treat.
