In every nook and cranny of my truck there is dirt. And even some dog hair. Whole truck actually smells like dog. I took out the cup holders and looked behind the instrument panel. Caked in dirt. I bought this truck used a few years ago. After looking at it today I thought it might have been flooded at some point. Or could it have been from mudding or off roading? Dirt, in every place

Looks like that truck sat in muddy floodwater that slowly receded.

When I lived on a dirt road thats exactly how the under dash looked. On my rockcrawler, it will get that same level of silty dirt in every nook and cranny after a summer of wheeling with no doors. I would expect way more rust and scale if it had been submerged.

I'd say that bad boy went for a swim. Have you checked the carfax to see if anything was reported?

Agreed - It looks like it was a dusty farm truck. there are spaces where you would see water lines

Like others said, possibly a flooded vehicle. Pull the carpeting up and see what you find.

I'll xwhatever probably not a flood truck but a dirt road truck. It gets everywhere, even worse if you leave the windows down or even park it with a window down. The surface rust under the dash has been on pretty much every vehicle I've owned here in PA, the floor mats get wet and stay wet and rusts all the exposed steel.

You can't go by CarFax. Accidents, damage and flooded vehicles are often not reported. A vehicle listed on carfax stating a clean record, could in fact have damage. This happened to me when I was trying to buy a BMW 1M,
Carfax showed it being a clean one owner car. At the time I was doing work for one of the biggest private auto dealerships in my area. I had mentioned that I was looking to buy this car. Thankfully he told me or rather suggested to have the car looked at. It was coming from down south and where they have had recent heavy flooding. I had reached out on the BMW forums and had a PPI done on the car. The cost of PPI and the cost of the forum member to help me out, had saved me thousands of dollars. Car was discovered to have flood damage.
