My latest project made with some stuff on had lying around the shop. Not sure what wife will use it for yet, maybe a plant stand? Its 25" tall & the top is 12" in diameter. May even get a small round piece of glass made for top. 20241217_124451.jpg20241217_124448.jpg 20241217_124444.jpg 20241227_122317.jpg 20241227_124613.jpg 20241227_124547.jpg

Pretty cool. Are you going to clear coat it or let it rust?

I think that would be the way to go or patina.

I have an artist buddy in Grand Junction that buys military surplus by the tons and makes art.

I haven't. But always looking for scraps to make something with.
My neighbor gave me some 100 year old rough cut oak boards off of a barn last year & I made a beautiful picnic table for my shop. 20230421_132228.jpg 20230421_132215.jpg 20230421_132228.jpg 20230421_132215.jpg 20230421_132205.jpg

Very cool, I'm always looking in the metal scrap bins at work. Made a couple of these vice stands one for me and a buddy. Commercial truck drums are a great base, heavy and can lean and roll them easily.

Project for today, put together a grill/smoker I got for FREE. My nephew works at Lowes, they gave it to him in box, nothing damaged or missing. I'm thinking it was a closeout but it was originally priced at $400. I can't complain!20241228_130703.jpg20241228_165037.jpg 20241228_165029.jpg 20241228_165050.jpg

That’s a big boy blade the mill was using to cut that wood.

And that’s big boy money for boards like that too. Beautiful work.

Unfortunately my project for today was clearing snow & ice from our driveway, which is 14,000 ft. Took awhile. 20250107_125746.jpg 20250107_125753.jpg 20250107_121914.jpg 20250107_121910.jpg

Had to replace the tongue on one of my trailers, welded on, so it took some time to get the old one off. Then did some rewiring & replaced the 7way plug on front of trailer as well. 20241129_131125.jpg 20241129_131131.jpg 20241204_115525.jpg

Today I started getting mowers ready for spring. I know it's a ways off, but what else to do when it's cold & crappy outside. First one is this little J.D. rider that my brother in law uses. It got a complete service & new blades.
Second one is my main mower, a Dixie Chopper that got complete service, blade sharpening & I finally replaced the 13 year old belts, that still looked good actually.20240218_152742.jpg 20240218_152731.jpg 20250126_162133.jpg 20250126_162117.jpg

Worked on the fuel injection wiring on my k5. Hoping to get the exhaust finished this week and start breaking the motor in. Still need to order some snake skin to clean the wiring up.

I have 2 Pittsburgh aluminum floor jacks. A 2 ton that had a bent frame (my fault) and a 2.5 ton that leaked badly. I decided to make one good jack with these two. All I had to do was change the side pieces (blue) & now I have a good usable jack again. Funny thing is, the lift cylinder on both of these was identical, down to the part number. So the 2.5 ton rating difference is a wider frame by 1/2". Lift mechanism is same on both. Made an aluminum scrap pile to recycle & added all the bolts to my bolt bins.20250128_120741.jpg

Don't forget to scrap the left over parts you have no future use for. Do not put into the trash. It's metal, it's worth something.

After the deep freeze we've been through this month, today was sunny & 61°. I got the fever, opened up the shop & changed oil in the Hellcat. 48 days till Spring & it can't come soon enough.20250131_170616.jpg

Added a larger hydraulic cooler to my zero turn mower today, then ran the small factory coolers in series for engine oil cooling. It's always seemed to run hot, & the next size larger mower has the larger cooler. Just an upgrade that will hopefully help.20250220_152836.jpg 20250220_152827.jpg20250220_152918.jpg

Spent 6hrs wiring up the water meth system on the tundra and getting the gauge mounted and wired. This weekend, hopefully, going to install the turbo and injectors and start tuning.

Changed both oxygen sensors on my sister in law's Rav4, 2010 & 145K & still had original sensors. It popped a code & disabled AWD. Here's what I found, cracked all the way around.Screenshot_20250301_171205_Gallery.jpg
