For 4 vehicles, about $1200/yr. ironically it was less in CA.

Probably about the same. I pay $103/month, but that is for

    - 2020 Tundra
    - 2012 Highlander

We have $100k/$300K bodily injury, $100K property damage liability, $50K/$100K uninsured/underinsured, emergency roadside assistance, and a $500 deductible on comp/collision.

GEICO, though I can get about the same with most companies. (Yeah, I know, GEICO ain't the greatest...but I used to have USAA, and while I never had any issues with them, others have said they've gone down quite a bit in customer satisfaction.)

I have Geico. I am in California and the other cars I have are about a 1/3rd of what the Tundra adds.

That may be the difference (I live in the middle of nowhere in Missouri LOL). Plus I'm 44, wife is 42, no crashes/tickets to our names, etc., blah blah.

Do yourself a favor and buy as much UM/UIM coverage as you can. It’s usually pretty affordable and will help you if you are injured by someone with little or no coverage. Hopefully you’ll never need it, but it’s cheap peace of mind.

100%. My wife was hit by an uninsured F-250 and nearly killed her. We only had 100k uninsured coverage. The two day hospital stay and surgeries was $80,000. You don't want to F**** around with that coverage. It was less than ten dollars per month to increase the coverage to $300k for both of our vehicles which we have since done. All it takes is some scumbag running around with no assets, no insurance, nothing, and your life is negatively changed forever. This policy is likely the only compensation you will get in a major uninsured accident. Don't skimp on it.

You make great points. What about for those who have health insurance and let’s say the max out of pocket/year is $10k? But yes, for a few more bucks a month it is better to have piece of mind.

Health insurance isn’t going to cover things like income you might lose if you’re unable to work.

Also, there’s no guarantee that a hospital will even file with your health insurance:

Just under $100/month (we have 4 cars on our policy; this is the Tundra portion)

    Full coverage $50/$500 deductible

Umbrella policy required us to raise our other coverage (UM/Bodily, etc) but I don't remember what the new limits are. Pretty sure it used to be $100K/$300K/$500K

Your health insurance is going to have legal rights to reclaim any money you get through insurance to offset their costs.

Lets say your cost is out of pocket $10k. Your ACTUAL bill to the hospital that they paid was $100k, and your insurance company gives you $100k in damages from uninsured motorist, then your health insurance has the legal right to pursue the money to reimburse them for their costs to make up the difference.

In my case we employed a personal injury lawyer who negotiated with our insurance company so that we could keep atleast some of the money for things such as future medical bills, lost income, etc.

I work with all types of insurance daily including auto. Don't skimp on your coverages and if full tort is an option in your state get IT and uninsured/underinsured. You would be surprised with coverage amounts and what they cost you. I see all the time coverages for instance 50,000/100,000/50,000 vs 100,000/300,000/100,000 may be only a couple dollar difference never know until you ask. At least see what the cost is for better coverage you maybe surprised to find out it's not much more! Once in blue moon the higher coverage is the same price as a lower option. Shop around for prices and If you find a good price online find a local agent that represents that company, very high possibility they can beat the online price.
