What does cataclean do?

I had a CEL p0420 and now it’s gone but the dealership that I was looking into trading my 2012 tundra for a 2020 says there’s a code but the p0420 went away after I used cataclean and hasn’t been back since the last 1k miles last drive.

im looking at a 2020 tundra double cab as much as I love my crew cab with the back window that rolls down.

 

I'd demand at least $10K for your trade-in and a better interest rate depending on your credit.
Try to get that payment closer to $500, but always pay more per month when you can..
5 years is a long term for a used car, but I guess that is today's world.

I had it on my 2005 DC but not on my 2014 DC..

There’s definitely some wiggle room there especially on your trade. I would ask them what the code is they are pulling and if it’s the same. Could be a historical code which still can show on some scanners.
Interest rates are unfortunately still through the roof on cars. We recently purchased a sienna with an 800+ credit score and the only way we avoided that high of a rate was going through our credit union. Interest rates make a big difference payment wise on a short term loan so I would say shop around a bit if you have a decent score. Also there are so many people that have the predator steps stock that replace them with something else and sell them for cheap on this site or marketplace. If you are patient you should be able to find a set for a few hundred.
