Fuel Injectors are starting to go out. I’ve been procrastinating on changing them out since I bought my truck. I just wanted to wait until they got worse.

Last year, I think one of the members told me to buy 12 hole injectors or something along the lines of that. I just don’t remember the name of them. Maybe one of you know what I’m talking about.

    Was it dirty deeds?

    This is what rockauto offers.

I’m a cheapass btw so I might need some convincing to purchase the higher end stuff

I got my OEM injectors serviced and cleaned, I paid $20 per, and came with all new o-rings.

Exactly, why not get them cleaned professionally with an ultrasound bath? Only downside is the truck being out of commission for a few days. Maybe less if they do them locally.

My dad says the same thing. I was a bit skeptical.

Assuming a rebuild kit is $30 and you have to invest a while cleaning them (I don’t prefer going to mechanics)....it might save me time and effort to take another route. I could get densos for $65 or upgrade with 12 hole.

Does a fuel injector rebuild ensure optimal performance? Would they perform just as well as new ones?

Idk maybe I’m just scared because I’ve never cleaned and rebuilt them before.

I kind of want to hear some opinions on 12 hole injectors and how they compare to OEM ones.

Yes, if a reputable place reconditioned your original injectors they would be good as new. I would suggest getting at least two estimates on that if you're able to pull and reinstall them yourself. From there, compare the cost against other replacement options and make the decision. I would avoid anything too cheap, it is tempting when Denso are $500+/- for all 8.

How do you know they are failing?

Improved throttle response and shift points. Didn’t notice any improvement in mpg.

The 12 holes from Keith (dirty deeds) are a pretty good price for a set of 4. Better atomisation always helps as well.

if going aftermarket through rockauto or the likes the only company with legit hood injectors are the standard motor products brand

Denso has 12 hole injectors here for a reasonable price.
“Refurbished” it says. OEM apparently???

I checked out Dirtydeeds website for theirs. $350 it says. Am I supposed to buy electrical adapters or what’s going on there?

I’m stuck between these at the moment.

i avoid ebay at all costs.. constantly issues with counterfeit parts. i believe dirty deeds are rebuilt OEM injectors off different toyotas

the adapters are only for the 330CC injectors. you dont need those

do remember. OEM injectors are 150-200 EACH.

the ebay injectors LOVE to create rich running issues because they're not actually "denso" and are not built correctly (not saying they cant be, but ebay and Amazon suffer really bad counterfeit issues)

Yeah I was wondering the same question tbh.
Last year when I bought the truck, it had some idling and starting issues from leaking injectors.
Standard motor company looks very intimidating. $90 a pop.
Do you personally use the dirty deeds injectors?

i have injectors off my old car that was totalled (RIP). plenty of people here run them on the 00-04 trucks. mine being an 05 uses different injectors.

if your looking for cleaning the OEMs and rebuilding i believe motorwest on the west coast has good reviews and is priced fairly

So cleaning them and putting in those new seals wouldn’t fix the leaking? Are there other parts i’m supposed to replace besides those? Because that’s the only rebuild kit I see.

    Hope I’m following you right

The stuff to rebuild an injector internally is not readily available unfortunately. Only specialised shops car do that and even what they can do is limited

Those seals you sent would solve an external leak. What you have that causes a rough running is a injector leak at the tip

@empty_lord was it the 1mz injectors that fit? 1zz?

05-08 (blue) 1zz fits the 05-06. I have no confirmation of the 3mz injectors fit off a 07-09 solara v6.. but those are my guess for the 00-04

    Ok. Well.
I’m buying dirty deeds then. Thanks for your insight.

I have a lot of incompetent mechanics around here. If that wasn’t the case, I would probably take them in to get refurbished. Seems like every time I go in to get something done, I get f’d

Incompetent mechanics are all around. Gotta weed through them to find a quality guy and latch on and never let go lol. I’m a mechanic by trade. I’ve got my group of people that only come to me and knows I’ll treat them right

Done and purchased. I’ll be reporting on “what’d you do to your 1st gen tundra today” when I install them :D
Haha man there’s only one good mechanic in my area, but even then it’ll take him a month just to finish a 3 hour job. Not worth my time. Couple years ago I burnt out my transmission on my 2013 6.7 cummins and got it taken into a mechanic under service warranty. They told me they’d get it done in 2 weeks, but problem was I needed the truck for work. I installed carports at the time and needed to haul material on a 30,000 pound trailer.

2 months later, rent, car payments, and insurance was building up. Starting to go low on money at that time. mechanic calls me telling me I have to fork over another $1000 for whatever lies or they couldn’t get it done.

Had to liquidate one of my vehicles to stay afloat until they got it done. On top of that, I couldn’t keep my workers busy, so they quit. I would’ve got a rental truck, but this was around when Covid hit, so you couldn’t get one.
    Pretty rough period for me.

So yeah, I don’t deal with em no more. I wrench on everything myself now.
