I just noticed this tonight after all these years. Is this a resonator? Spark Arrestor?

I'd guess it is a resonator..
Had something like that on my 2005.

My 2014 stock muffler was HUGE and included the resonator from what I was told.
Replaced with a 7" BAM and then swapped the 7" for 10".

I see spot welds at the entrance of the bulge. Maybe I can drill those out and have something pop out. It's bugging me lol.

@dirtydeeds is our go to for exhaust systems and questions. I would inquire before I started hacking something up....just my .02.

    Resonator.

Before my custom @dirtydeeds system was built I had the resonator on my 2007 welded in place as a turn down on the original muffler. The area where the tail pipe attached to the muffler had burnt away, and was leaking. This fixed the leak and gave me the clearance I needed now that the leaf packs were hanging under the axle.

The 3 muffler cat-back that Keith made for me has a tail pipe that dumps after the axle, and it has an extra long Helmholtz resonator that kills drone.

Looks a bit like when a snake eats a big rat or something. Are you missing a dog? Maybe your tundra got hungry

Interesting. How is this working out for you. Are you happy with the sound?
