Just getting my basic trailer lights setup. I think this plug is bad. Not sure what it is though and haven't seen it at NAPA.

Usually all OEM harnesses like that will have a p/n on the white paper tag.

However, I'm not sure whether that's OEM or not. My OEM tow pkg has a 7-pin receptacle, but maybe this is just an earlier-model thing.

If you wanna dig thru OEM wiring, this is the page for your truck. Click 'View Full Size Image', then click 'View More Images' to flip through other rear exploded diagrams.

That's your trailer harness but would be surprised it being bad from the looks of it. Unless I checked continuity with a VOM, I would not be able to say it is bad.
What causes you to say it might be bad ?
Do you have a volt ohm meter, even a cheap one from NAPA can confirm if harness is bad or not.

Yup, just set it to 'continuity' and test end-to-end.

As @daveeasa and I found out, the parts system is pretty sketchy when it comes to wiring harnesses in the rear of the truck near the hitch. I was able to dig up a visual pic of that part in a bag so you could get a look at it before ordering, if needed. I'll let you figure out if you feel it's the same part or not based on this pic.
