What kind of discounts on 2021 right now?

Hey guys, has anyone bought a 2021 model this year (or in the last few months)? If so what kind of discounts are you seeing? I’m hearing a lot of dealers aren’t coming down off the MRSP much, if any, due to short supply and high demand. I’m trying to figure out what to do before the ‘22 models hit. I currently lease a 2020 SR5 CM which comes to an end this November ( and I kick myself for not just buying in the first place).

Toyotas discount changes monthly, aside from that you should be able to talk just about any dealer (willing to sell) down about 2-3k off msrp.

    Where are you located?

Western NY. Looks like they are doing a $1000 incentive for this month.

You can always get discounts, just have to negotiate.

Why not buy your current truck at the end of the lease?

I considered that, however I leased through Ally and the residual value of the truck at the end of the lease is a little over $44k. Which worked out great for the lease payments ($316/month w/ $0 down) but I can’t see paying $44k for a 2020 with 20k miles at the end of the lease.

I just went through the buying process in SoCal for a 2021, called every dealer from SD to LA and the Inland Empire and El Centro region. Most desirable Tundras (for me) were already sold weeks in advance from them arriving to dealer. Not one dealer I talked with was willing to go lower then MSRP and quite a few started with a markup (not just the Pro, but on platinums and limiteds) so you felt like you were getting a deal if you got them down to MSRP.

I ran into quite a few dealers who tried to sell me whatever they had on the lot (2WD, non TRD package, Tacoma's) but wouldn't put me in line to get the truck I wanted. But keep looking around and eventually you will find a dealer willing to try to get you an allocation. Even I had to settle for getting a truck that didn't come with a factory bed liner just so I can a) get the moon roof I wanted and b) get my truck within a reasonable time frame. The pandemic and chip shortage has really helped the Internet Sales dept because most lots have nothing to actually get into and look at on the lot that isn't already spoken for.

Better to go new with that residual. Lol, or release it and wait for them to list it at less than 44k.

Exactly lol, which is why I’d rather have a dealer buy out the lease and then buy a brand new 2021. Plus I want a different color. My 2020 is black (never owned a black vehicle) and I quickly realized my OCD can’t handle keeping it clean lol. My local dealer has a 2021 sky silver that is identical to my 2020 aside from the color that I wish I could get into.

    GO haggle :D

I buy cars and trucks a bit too often, I could be wrong, but I have a hard time believing a dealer would turn away a customer on floor ready to buy that is offering 2-3k off MSRP on a Tundra. I know there's a shortage but they still pocket cash even at that price.

10/23/20 i ordered a 2021 TRD Offroad, was delivered to dealer 01/18/21, picked it up today with 6 miles on her, looking forward to discussion with you ya'll. Purchased from Gullo Toyota in Conroe, Tx. - MSRP was 48,090 negotiated to 42,300 + TT&L : OTD 45,381...Negotiated all online via email!

Not sure what kind of discount you can get in today's climate..Send emails to all dealerships in your area telling the Tundra you are looking for and tell them you want their BEST Out the door price!

My 2019 quicksand SR5 with 10k miles is blue booking at that value as of yesterday. I could privately sell it for more than I bought it for originally.

The sky silver is a CM SR5 TRD off-road with and MSRP of $47,163 including the $1000 discount. Even if I could get them to knock another $1500 I’d jump on it.

$1,000 rebates on Tundras and because stock is low, they aren't coming off the price anymore than that. Sucks.

I was expanding my search to Denver , one place had a TRD pro marked 12k OVER invoice. They were not joking.

There’s a lot of places asking that much for 2018/2019’s with more miles. Demand (and price) on used Tundras is just as crazy.

I sold my 2019 Platinum with 51k miles on it 6 months ago for exactly that price, $44k. It took 15 minutes on Craigslist. I hate to admit it, but $44k sounds about right if I was buying that truck in this climate.

I just bought a 2021 limited crew max on Saturday. Got $500 off msrp and $1000 Toyota rebate. Due to the shortage no dealerships in my area expected to have higher trim level Tundra's for months so I searched cars.com and autotrader.com in a 500 mile radius, found all the dealers that had the trim/color/options/no price markups, and started emailing them to see who actually had something on the lot. Ended up finding a dealer in the Seattle area who had one arriving the next day. Put a deposit down, paid $160 for a plane ticket to go pick it up, and drove it back to Idaho. The 8 hour drive sucked, but totally worth it.

Picked up my ‘21 Platinum this past Friday. Got $3,000 off MSRP and the $1,000 Rebate. Been waiting for it since Late December.

Every market is different. I traded my 19 limited CM 4x4 w/16mi on a 21 Platinum CM 4x4. Got $46k for for the 19 and paid $50k (msrp $56K) for the platinum. This was back in Oct. Waited about 2 months to get the 21.

Ordered a 2021 CrewMax 4x2 with a due date of 3/25/21. Sticker was $41,693, reduced price off that was $37,750 so the difference was $3,943. I also got them to throw in full window tint to include the front seat windows, front windshield and got all weather mats instead of carpet. Dealer included stuff is lifetime powertrain warranty and lifetime synthetic oil changes. This vehicle was purchased in Central Fl. I think I did ok as they are maxing my 2017 Tacoma SR5 trade in value to boot.

It all depends on area, configuration and trim level.

The "biggest" discounts are going to be SR5 and 1794s - expect 3500 in savings off sticker in most regions - might be 1k customer cash and 2500 "discount", all discount or boost to your trade.

SR is probably half that - at most, assuming dealers have 1 sitting on lot.

Limited is tighter supply - so little if any.

Pro you will probably pay above sticker in some markets.

DC sells slower - as do 4x2.

March is traditionally the highest volume truck month...so if there are any deals - its only because a dealer/salesperson is on the verge of a big bump in sales pay - no reason to give stuff away if next person in the door is as likely as not to buy what you turn down or when new stock is not immediately available.

Don't know about where you are, but here there are none on the lots (ok, 2 or 3) and there are no discounts.
