Look for a dual in single out magnaflow. Case length determines the sound levels, shorter case is louder.

Same exact thing as the other guys mentioned but a lot less in cost.

There’s a lot of love for DirtyDeeds on this forum, but if you want magnaflow, I’d go with 18”. I put a 22” magnaflow dual I/O to quiet down my exhaust from having a true dual exhaust with a flowmaster FlowFX muffler. Drone was too much at 2k RPMs. A lot of people like Borla mufflers, too.

My only complaint about DD is they need to put more vids of their exhaust sounds to help with what each muffler aounds like, but from what I’ve read on these forums they’ll work with you on what you’re looking for and his work is Tundra specific.

Some more clarification to the suggestions and what you're actually asking for OP:

The 2007-2021 Tundra's exhaust is a bolt on system from the "cats" to the tail pipe. Bolt on flanges meet up just aft of the cats and that part consists of a single "midpipe section" that consists of 2 tubes into 1 muffler and a single outlet for your tailpipe section. The TRD exhaust consists of this midpipe section with 2 pipes into 2 smaller mufflers and 2 single outs so that you have 2 tailpipes.

Any proper "system" will always be a "cat-back" in the technical sense of the term. The only way to just "swap the muffler" is cutting and welding one into place. If you happen to live near the ocean, or in the salt belt don't do it. Even if you're the best welder on the planet. 18months before you have holes eating in your welds and pipes from the high heat -> salt; ask me how I know.

The reason @dirtydeeds is so highly recommended on here is not only for the performance and tone, but the customer service is unrivaled. He will build you what you want, and swap for a different system depending on your experience should you not like the first time. Just pay shipping. I think a couple of guys on here have gone through 2-3 sets. Magnaflow & flowmaster dont do that.

Rob, welcome to the forum. Having had two magnaflow products, a cat-back and a muffler-only swap on my last truck, I agree with the advice given here. My current truck came with the TRD exhaust, which I like very much. Should it fail, I'll likely go with a Dirty Deeds system due to the recommendations and advice given here.

We sell just a muffler too. We can’t make it less quality to compete with the other Chinese product mentioned on this thread, but just a muffler is bare bones priced

even with that bare bones price, you get proper engineering advice every step of the way. You won’t be guessing how it’ll sound. You’ll have the engineer of your muffler helping you, not just a salesman from a large corporation selling you.

Why guess and redo? It’s worth a couple bucks more, whether it be a Catback or just a muffler. Call me directly. 760-877-4234

Big magnaflow will sound more masculine than stock, but doesn’t add a drop of power. I have one

My favorite thing is when a guy has worked up thru most of the sizes. Youve heard in person, the different levels of sound. That’s sometimes the best testimonial you can possibly find on our products.

This spans 7 years and 2 Tundras. Each system is what I wanted at the time, but as I've gotten older I prefer quieter - but still like a v8 tone. This is why the sound guarantee is such a nice feature of your business model. Nobody else does that.

Sound is really hard to describe and even videos aren't always the same as hearing in person. My experience with different exhausts - and there have been a lot on various vehicles - is that each manufacturer has a signature sound and you try to dial in the right balance of volume, tone and rasp with the case size.

Both the 8 and 20 (opposite ends of the spectrum) have the "unique" BAMuffler sound - but the 20 is obviously much quieter and has a clean, deep sound (with no rasp) vs the 8 which is louder, very throaty and has some rasp in the higher range.

I went with a custom Y pipe into a Carven TR (15”) can muffler. Tied it into stock tail pipe. Added a Dirty Deeds Resonator, which did an unreal job of canceling the drone. Sounds amazing, I’m very happy with it, and so is my wallet.

I’ll do my best to get some good audio this week for ya! I can rev it in the driveway but of course it sounds different under load. Definitely a unique sound the Carven TR has, very hemi like low rpm’s, nice burble. (Dd resonator made it more Burbley too). Sound changes when you hit 2,000rpm, comes alive.

Glad it sounds nice at 2k RPMs. Idk if its the transmission or what, but this truck likes to stay around 2k.

Why go with a cheap Chinese import with limited options when for not that much more you get a product with material more than twice as thick with a sound customized just for you?

I had a magnaflow muffler replacement. All it did was drone, with an obvious loss of low end tq. I now have a 6" DD and am very very happy.

Ballpark for muffler only? PM me if you'd like.

Something with a bit more rumble, throaty but not too much rasp. Like "whoomp whoomp whoomp" not "bap bap bap"

I went with these options. Deep, throaty, no drone. Local muffler shop welded them on for $150ish. So, $350-400-ish parts and labor.

To be clear, I did also make and weld in a resonator to go with my Magnaflow muffler replacement.

There was some drone before, around ~1700rpm. Essentially gone now with the resonator, no perceived power loss.

Soundwise: very mellow burble when cruising/low rpm. Very sporty, punchy sound at WOT. Will try to record the sound and upload to my build thread.

super interesting. Today i put a stock muffler back on. Wow the low end response is WAY better than the magnaflow. Sure having some tone was nice, but man the throttle is more snappy off the line. Im sure the magnaflow is better at high end rpm but not worried about that
