    Hi All,

I do not own a Tundra currently but my next truck will be one! I see a lot of stories about Tundra's and how long they'll last, when I'm ready to buy one it will be a 2007 -2013 model. What are things I'll have to look for when buying one? i do all my owwn maintenance on my truck, my old Silverado I drove up to 275,000 miles, it was all original no rebuild engine or transmission. My current F150 is closing in at 200,000 miles, also all original.

    I kid!
    Cam tower leaks.
The right options for what you are seeking.
Consider the 5.7 or 4.6 for your needs.
    2x4 or 4x4.

    Pull a CarFax report.
    Inspect for frame rust.
Take it on an extended test drive on different road surfaces.
Maybe visit your local tire shop, and have them lift & inspect it.
Turn the radio OFF while you are driving so you can hear everything.

I rolled the dice on my '07 when I purchased it 09/2017 with 270k on it, because there was no service history... my extended test drive and a look underneath told me all I needed to know. It has 285k on it now, and I love driving it.

    Good luck with your search!

As already mentioned, visually inspect cam towers. You can see the problem area, or the signs of an issue by looking from the front wheel well. There are better explanations that you can find here with a quick search.
And i guess check for rust damage on the frame. Though, that shouldnt really be a problem since Toyota offered to take care of it but you never know.

Cant really think of anything else that was abnormal with the tundras. The price on a used tundra can be discouraging at first but totally worth it. They hold their value like champs.

Hope you find one you like!

Check for evidence of flood damage. The United States has had an incredible amount of flooding in the last two years.

    all good advices.

rust, cam tower leak ,AIP are the big ones.

rust especially under a plastic bed liner. you wont see it until you lift it.

4x4, 5.7L and crewmax have the best resale value imo so a used one will probably be a bit more than a 2WD DC

    Welcome from Tx!

Some 2007's have the 4.7L which has the timing belt, costly maintenance item.

many recommend the 5.7 in leu of the 4.6 or 4.7
