I ran wheel spacers to get a little better stance on previous trucks which admittedly, were pavement princess' that essentially never saw anything other than a gravel driveway for off road and some New England potholes. Trucks never had any issue.

My current job entails frequent (couple of times a week) driving legitimately off road through roughly graded developments and some solid off road terrain. It's one of the reasons I picked this truck. Having the 4 wheel coil spring makes going off road 100x better than the old leaf spring design.
I want to get that nice wide stance with this truck, I love the stock wheels so I don't have any plan to swap them out. Mildly worried about the spacers being a weak point though off roading. Anyone run spacers on any truck that actually saw some legit off road conditions consistantly?

I and multiple people I know, and tons on this forum, run spacers and do lots of offroading. Never had an issue. I even raced the King of the Hammers with wheel spacers, have had long travel trucks with spacers, and daily driven vehicles. As long as they're installed correctly and are hub centric, I would have no issues running them. Their only weakness is they're an extra failure point over an equivalent offset wheel.

I have never had wheel spacers. Do they affect your turning radius?

Yes they do affect the turning radius. I ran spidertrax spacers on my gen 1 tundra long travel in rear, now ive run them for years on my gen 2. Ive also run lug centric wheels on both trucks at times as well. I actually feel better about spacers+oe wheels than i did with method wheels. I like hub centric spacers and hub centric wheels. No science to back it up but it seems to all fit nice and snug

+1 for spacers through all sorts of conditions. Hubcentric and you won't have any issues.

Practically all long travel tundras run spacers in the rear.

Quality Spacers like BORA are built amazingly well, many off-road jeeps and trucks use them. Make sure its good quality with rated studs and is built hub centric for your truck.

Just some extra info - around Fort Collins, CO, not a single tire shop will work on your truck if you have spacers. Discount tire, Big O, Les Schwab, Costco refuses to even touch your truck, so it makes buying and installing tires a pain and tire rotations are a pain also.

Not sure if you’d have the same issue or if you’d even care, but as much as I loved the look, I got rid of my spidertrax from my 1st Gen as it was too inconvenient.

15 years of use with some heavy towing (7200# camper) and light off roading with my spacers on my FGT. Buy quality, install properly with a torque wrench and you shouldn’t worry about them failing.

I’m not sure why this would be, because some of those are national chains… Discount is happy to keep rotating/ installing their *certified* tires on my Tundra that has BORA spacers in back. Maybe there’s a law in CO-? :monocle:

Maybe it’s the altitude. Just too high there

Highly odd considering discount will tell you its not against there policy with hubcentric spacers if you ask on there national forum. Costco also has no policy against it.

Track width has a negligible impact on turning radius when the steering angle and wheelbase length stay the same. Especially if only widening the width used in normal wheel spacers application. You won’t notice a change at all.

No clue. I called all locations before visiting and they wouldn’t do a tire rotation for me.

I couldn’t find a single thing in writing anywhere. This is just from the local shop, when I called and asked.

BORA Hubcentrics and you should be great. Ran a set on my 05 Xterra Off-road for years with no issues on/off the trail.

I've got a 1" set on order that I plan to run with Method 705s depending on how the 18 offset looks.

What are you running for tires?

My local tire shop, Colorado Tire & Service, had no problem installing my lift and spacers on my 14 Tunny. They have been installing lifts here for years....
