When does the wastegate issue seem to usually start?

So I bought a 2022 SR5 recently and although the wastegate issue is much less than people make it out tot be it is still a real problem. It seems that most people get it very soon from purchase as in the first 200 miles. I’ve also read its mostly higher end models like the Limited and the 1792c etc. so far mine has ran amazing. I’ve been driving full size pickups since 2005 when I bought my first after my third college graduation and this Is by far the best driving truck I’ve owned and my first tundra. I’ve got about 700 miles on mine. Doesn’t it seem like most people that have the issue have it before now? Am I wrong to think I most likely got one of the good ones or are some people having this problem later in mileage. Just curious. If it happens it’s under warranty and they can fix it but I’m hoping it stays good. Taking it in for a ceramic coating in the morning. Just curious if anyone has had problems later. Thanks for your help! I’m loving this truck with all my heart

Once the issue was realized, most of the affected trucks were held up from shipping to the dealer to correct the issue. For example, a truck with the build date of 11/21 just got delivered to my dealer a few weeks ago, the same time as my truck with a build date in late January.

I don't think we'll see much of this issue going forward, and most of the issues arose in the first 500 miles from what I've read. I have 1500 miles on mine now so I think I'm in the clear. Good luck and enjoy your truck. Also the best driving truck I've owned

Go check the "turbo issue" thread. Some of the reports are over 3000 miles IIRC.

A few of you guys mention that there have been cases of turbo wastegate problem reported above 2k, now above 3k?

I have read the whole turbo thread, and there are only a few mentions that someone remembers seeing a report of failure above 2k. I cannot find any specific example. The pictures with check engine lights on, posted all over, were all very low mile cars. I just want to know where you guys get this info, so I can follow as well.

I’m around 2.4k miles, no issues, but still worried.

Well, I briefly skimmed that thread again, and didn't find anything over 3k, so I either missed it, or I'm mistaken. Not the first time I will have been wrong, and surely won't be the last time.

Picked up my new Tundra a week before Christmas. Has 7000 miles. Started running rough and high rpm (2000) at start up. Been to the dealer twice, they say there’s nothing wrong. Took them 6 weeks to get oil filters also.
Called Toyota, now I have a firm explanation from 3 different people on 2 different days about what “brand engagement” is/does. But, so far, no assistance/action, just blowing smoke. Every person asked the same questions. When I asked about some action to get my truck fixed she reverted to the brand engagement explanation.
WTF Toyota? Why sell a vehicle that no one is trained to work on? First oil change at dealer, mech said he had to look for the oil filter for 20 minutes
    on the lift???
Ok, sorry, I’m done. Almost want my 2015 back….

If you are worried about wastegate problems don't buy the ugly sumbitch, get yourself a 21 or older....
