Looking for the drivetrain ECM. Anybody know? I have a P0983 code that says it is a transmission solenoid. Some say that is true, some say it is a loose harness at the ECM module. I cannot find the issue. My transmission will not shift above 4 gear. Lights flashing on dash. Any Ideas???

And once u find and fix the problem which it’s probably a bad S4 solenoid we hope you need to reset the TCM with a scanner if you don’t have a scanner you can disconnect the battery for 15 min with brake pedal depressed so that computer can drain down and relearn after 15min reconnect battery start the truck and let it run and reboot with all accessories OFF for about 15min then go test drive and see if it shifts into higher gears good luck keep us posted

Do you know if I have to remove the valve body to get the solenoid out?

EMC body is behind the glove box but I believe you can see the harness connectors on the firewall when you open the hood passenger side but to remove the ECM it comes out thru glove box hole

When you drop the transmission pan try to recover as much fluid as you can so you can replace it with the exact amount cause I believe your truck does not have a dipstick to measure trans fluid. It has to be filled by temperature
