    . I have a 2010 platinum

when I start the truck with remote start (or with a key like normal) the fans/defrost don't turn on. I have to manually set them. The dials are 360 digital knobs so the settings are stored digitally (not like the vent controls 20 years prior). This means I have to go outside to turn on defrost in the morning ,which defeats the purpose of auto start in the winter lol.

My question is where is this faulty hvac "control module" located? If there even is one . Is it integrated within the knob console? Or hidden somewhere else down wire ... what stores the memory of last known hvac settings? I want to yank one from a junk yard maybe and do a swapsies to solve the issue but i dont want to pay for something and it not solve the problem.. am i off? lol Thanks

I’m not familiar with any auto start/remote start setup on the Gen 2 from the factory, but not an expert by any means.

Look at the wiring diagrams - there are several components in the AC system.
The controller unit (with the knobs) is obviously located where you see it. There is also an “AC Amplifier” (i.e. ECU) located up behind the glove box on the right side.

There are also potentially settings in Techstream (if the remote start is truly a factory option) that might determine the default state of the AC system when started. I know there are some settings like that on my 2021.

It’s located on the passenger side just below and left of the glove box. I actually have one that I ordered thinking it was my problem, however it wasn’t and Sparks Toyota wouldn’t accept a return on it as it’s an electrical component. Also they have different part numbers for manual controls and automatic. I will post a photo so you get an idea of what it looks like. Also if mine turns out being the one you’re searching for I’ll ship it to you for half the price of the dealership, other than the junkyard these baby’s aren’t cheap.
