Looking for a 130 A alternator for a 2002 AC. I dont see it at RockAuto.

Can you suggest a reputable place to buy it?

    Thanks.

Was the 130 an upgrade option? I see a 70amp and 100amp available from Toyota.

Will that fit an '02? I see it's for '03 and up. But yeah, they don't show a 130amp option for an '02. Just 70 (discontinued) & 100.

So you guys are seeing what I am seeing. I didnt think that that the 03+ was the same as the 02 as the connector is different. I have the 130 A due to tow package. With my stereo, I want to stay with the high amps.
I was agreeing with you that I am only looking for Denso.

Shoot, didn't look at what year your truck was. I don't think they actually offered a 130A in the 02 even with a tow package. You might not have one unless a PO swapped one in. Either way, I'd still try to get the 130A/150A and do the modifications to make it work.

Another option is to replace the brushes yourself

Denso are like $160 + $79 core from RockAuto when they're in stock. That's what I paid for my 150A. Didn't return my 130A for a core.

    Reman'd? I wonder if OP's quoted one is a new or reman'd

everytime I FIND a 130 from anywhere other than the dealer. The price difference is like 260-275 vs $350ish

negligible if you're in NEED of the alternator. I guess I would hold out if I could wait and knew they would have them in stock.

    Reman'd

I swear that when I looked up my VIN a while back the tow package stated 130 A and the dealer said that they have it for my year. Now I am slightly confuzzled.

Yeah I’m not sure about the different years variances.
I’ll usually call and get part numbers, then look it up on their online parts store, it will usually be cheaper and free shipping to the store for pickup

Nope not dead. I am getting serious whine in the stereo. It is not a ground loop issue as is typical with picking up alternator noise in the stereo.
It is charging the battery for the moment, though I can tell it is not operating at full capacity. I ran a quick test with the alternator in place, pulled the neg battery lead, ran a DMM across the pos. battery lead to the alternator and am getting about 370 mV, spec seems to be above 500 mV. It has been getting worse over the last month or so.

    Thanks for the offer.

This thread seems to tell me I am mistaken and that I must have a 100 A: OKay, just ran my vin again and I was wrong.I do not see the 130 A so that makes this cheaper.

Yeah, you'd need to repin. I believe Denso is sending all extra inventory to Toyota, and everyone else be damned.

    Toyota has the 130A: https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/reman-alternator-270600f06084

If you have the square connector Frenchie is showing, you can do the 130A I just linked (aka Denso 210-1065), or you can do the Sequoia 150A (aka Denso 210-1066). But both are backordered at the moment.

Per the Toyota parts diagrams, up through August of 2002, trucks came with the option of 70A or 100A. If your door tag has you manufacture date prior to August, you're one or the other. The 100A part is OEM @ 27060-0F020 or Denso @ 210-0403.

Sadly, you're stuck man. Denso seems to be outo f stock on every part number I just listed.

FYI, repinning to use the newer style connector is inexpensive and easy. And now I'm kinda wishing I hadn't sold off all my spare alternators

Part #27060-0F040-84 is much cheaper for some reason but does require a $75 core exchange. Not sure what the difference is there.

Crap now this thread is making me want to buy a 100amp just to have on hand for the eventual end of my original. Or look into the 130 or 150 upgrade. Alternator on my Tacoma lasted 300,000 miles and 23 years. But I expect 300,000 miles is almost ten years down the road for me with the Tundra. All the more to reason to wonder if they'll still be available at that point.
