My 2014 1794 edition stock JBL stereo touch screen went bad across the entire bottom portion about a year ago, I have just been "dealing with it".

Then today I was trying to connect a Bluedriver OBD2 scanner and I had to unpair my cell phone from the truck and start the truck to get that to connect to my cell phone.

Then afterwards trying to get my cell to re-pair with the stereo I got overly mad at the dead bottom of the screen (which prevented me from pairing my cell again) and I smacked it once too hard after it has been cold here.

Shattered the already half dead screen.

Now I really need/want another stock stereo like mine, I was planning on getting around to it even before I shattered the screen, now I have to do it because the screen is totally unresponsive, but still displays and plays music lol.

No, I don't want to go aftermarket because I am still paying the truck off.
I already moded the truck to much with the suspension stuff I did.
Once it's paid off the entire stock pos system is getting ripped out.
But that's at least a year away.

I am finding a reasonably priced used JBL like mine hard to come by, but I did find some newer 2020-2021 TRD PRO JBL units for sale but they don't look like mine.
The buttons are reversed, and the screen is bigger.

Will it work perfectly in my 2014 1794 with all OEM functions?

Does anyone know what stereos from what years will work in what year trucks?

Please help, I need a working stereo.

    Thanks!

Thanks for this, I really tried searching but due to how everyone calls stereos something different it's hard to find info.

This just makes my head hurt, sometimes Toyota really pisses me off lol.
I just want another factory stereo that's plug and play.

Guess I will keep scouring facebook marketplace for my year/version, if people would just stop asking $400+ it would help, I ain't paying that for stock lol.

If I go aftermarket, whats a reasonably priced stereo that is PnP with my JBL parts, fits flush in the dash, and retains ALL factory controls especially steering wheel buttons and backup cam?

You might try putting a want-to-buy ad in the marketplace.
I'd guess a few guys have a JBL HU in the garage or attic they may part with.

I'm not sure about the JBL part on an aftermarket, my 2014 is non JBL.
There is a bit of a difference on installing a HU or replacing the OEM amp.
I'm sure there are threads on it.

I would look on Crutchfield's site, maybe even call them.
    They are usually pretty helpful.

A couple of threads that might help give you some ideas.

I'd bet the difference in the JBL and non-JBL may be discussed here.

I have an older Kenwood I'm happy with.
    Good luck.

Something to be aware of when buying used. Apparently there are three different versions of the jbl hu in these years. Found this out when trying to integrate new components while keeping the stock hu. There are a few integration pieces that will only work if you have a certain version which is only distinguishable by taking the radio out and matching up all the plugs. Some do the versions are different and have different plugs and will not work with pac pro interfaces in the 2.5 gen years. Point is, if you buy another jbl make sure you see the back of it and it looks just like yours otherwise you may wind up spending $200-$400 on a pos jbl hu. Just something to consider.
Yes you can get some radios for the tundra for $200 on Amazon but it’s at your own risk. Maybe look for a used hu on diyma or other car audio forum but you will have to buy a dsr1 to integrate it.

Being that the harness is expensive and that the 2020 radio sucks anyway, I would go aftermarket and it would sound alot better.

Thank you for the help everyone!

For now I am looking for a stock unit that matches mine, 2014-15.
Wish me luck, ad is on facebook marketplace anyone within 100 miles of Hilton Head SC let me know!

In another $7500 when the truck is paid off I'll go all aftermarket, but not until then, I already modified the truck way too much than I should have.
I have significant equity in it so I need it to stay stock incase I have to liquidate it, until I own it free and clear.

I thought "modding too much" is why we are here :D. While I'm coming up with the next project, I started dumping money on the RC collection.

    Lol indeed it is!

I have a list for later, rear seat storage, maybe console safe, headlight upgrade, bed lights, supercharger, more I probably forgot.

I just need to pay this thing off before I spend anymore money on mods incase anything goes sideways as my life is in flux atm while getting divorced.

RC collection, as in radio controlled models?
Thats one of my big hobbies also!
30+ years of airplanes, trucks, and maybe a boat I keep eyeing lately lol.

    Thanks I am on it!

Not sure how to not get ripped off doing shipping though.
I strongly prefer face to face but it certainly limits the shopping range....

Hell I can find some back home in VA on facebook marketplace for under $100 but I'm not due to go back to visit for a few months.
Not about to drive 550 miles 9+hrs each way to get one, gas would cost me over twice that lol.

This is why I don't mess with buying/selling on here.
The guy has not responded to my Pm after a week, and only responded to my post on his listing once telling me to pm him (which I did)

I hate dealing with unreliable people, especially with his low post count and short time on this forum.

    The search continues!
