Please scroll to the 0:50 mark. It’s more noticeable in the last part of the video.
Could this noise be caused to a old belt?
    Here the link, thanks

Can you get it to make the noise with the hood open and raising the RPM?

That doesn't sound like a belt to me, it sounds more like a P/S pump, idler pulley, or alternator whine.

I’m with @TILLY that’s a belt driven accessory getting ready to go

Pulling the belt off and spinning the pulleys by hand is where I’d start is you can’t narrow down where it’s coming from. I changed the tensioner, idler pulley and belt around 65k miles chasing a whine. Mine ended up being the alternator but it sounded completely different.

@1Tundra5 check your power steering pump fluid level too, low fluid will make the pump whine

It's definitely most likely not a belt. I had similar sound on old work van. Turned out alternator going out. Steering pump or some bearing does make similar noise. It would usually be audible at any rpm. (Maybe when it gets bad enough?)

Isn’t the alternator a pain to swap out?

I was changing oil on mine today and dread the day alternator fails after seeing how deep it is hidden.

Alternator or PS pump definitely. Cheap mechanics stethoscope will help to identify which one is going out.

Check under the hood for a Supercharger. They’ve been known to whine.

I was also going to say it, but decided to deflate the temptation. OP doesn't need salt on the wound.

But since we touched on the subject, why do they whine?

It’s not easy but isn’t terrible either. Go through the passenger wheel well.

They whine due to the gears meshing together. Just like a straight cut gears for rear ends made for strength. They don’t have to whine as much, they can be somewhat quieter. Some will complain that their supercharger isn’t whining loudly enough.

    Alternator - dry bearing.

PS pump - worn vanes, cavitation present.

Just how they work. The rotors twisting against the case gives it a drill like sound.

Wow that looks incredible! Thank you, I figured it would be identical to a turbo, but driven by a pulley being the only difference.

Very different from a turbo, unless we’re talking Procharger, which is essentially a gear reduction belt driven turbo.

I took the belt off, I noticed that when I turn the ps pulley back and forth, it clicks.
Hope that’s not the problem :annoyed:

If its making noise, that's most likely the culprit. Is there any play in the pulley, side to side/up and down?

No, there’s what’s labeled on this picture as the cooler compresor, that I can shake, but I think it’s within the normal range

From your vids I would say that the idler seems fine, but the tensioner sounds suspect. If you grab it, can you wiggle it? Also, were you able to reach the alternator pulley to check that? The P/S vid is hard to tell if it could be that also.

I will check the tensioner when I get home.
Alternator seems fine to me, but I don’t really have anything to compare it to.
In the power steering video, you can hear the knock. You may have to turn it up.

I just started to get the same whine, but before that, every cold start I would get a loud screeching noise that would go away after the engine warmed up or I sprayed water or wd40 on the belt. I'm going to be changing the belt here shortly and while it's off checking these other pulleys.
