Who has an Active Front Spoiler? Post a pic of your truck !!!

Please post a pic of your truck and exactly what year, Trim and PKG you have and if you have the retractable front spoiler or not.

Examples - 2022 SR5 TRD Off-Road 4WD
2022 Limited Hybrid TRD Off-Road 4WD

** I have a SR5 2WD with no TRD pkg's. Only have the convenience pkg (which has blind spot, front and rear park sensors and large fuel tank). I have the Active front Spoiler **

To confirm which exact trucks/packages have the spoiler and which ones do not as there has been conflicting information even from Mike Sweers himself.

This is my friends truck which is a 2022 SR5 2wd with the TRD off-road pkg. He does not have the active front spoiler.

 

According to the Toyota.ca website, when you add the TRD Offroad package to your truck, the front spoiler gets removed/deleted. Mine doesn't have one. I guess the the spoiler wouldn't work well in offroad situations if it came down and got smashed.

We only have one choice on the TRD package (excluding the TRD PRO) where as you could have several different TRD choices in the US. We also can't get a trim higher than a Limited with TRD added. So no Platinum/1794 TRD's up here.

I am not sure it the Toyota US site says the same thing about the TRD Offroad package and deleting the spoiler?

 

This is another friend of mine's truck in Texas that has the TSS, (not TRD) off-road pkg and this has the spoiler.

 

The USA site doesn't, as I stated every Limited TRD Off-road truck we have had come in to our dealership including a friend of mine's Limited TRD off-road in California has the spoiler.

 

I mean, it's kinda like the light in the fridge, right?
How do you know it's there if it only comes out at higher speeds!!??!??!

 

Once this info is compiled here (assuming the thread doesn’t die a quiet invisible death) what will you do with it?

 

When you go to change your bumper out and you disconnect it you will throw a code. Until it is bypassed correctly with the CBI module if they have one in stock at the time or you don't install the bumper and you keep it connected. That is why this is a stupid thing to have. U can not just disconnect it.

 

It is used to help which models has it and doesn't. See post above this.

I think the mileage/fuel consumption advantage must be significant enough to keep the spoiler! Perhaps an EPA thing?? It really doesn't make sense to have it on an offroad vehicle unless it can be turned off by the user. Still that wont protect all the spoilers from getting damaged during an weekend outing.

What is the TSS Offroad setup all about, we don't have that one either? It sounds fast

 

TSS is like the XP pkg for southeast toyota. Gets blackout badging, normally the 20" Trd wheels and Falken tires ( not atw3 but atw3a ) and badging. Sometimes running boards are included.

 

and from everything that was talked about by Mike is that is all about stability not MPG gains. The SR doesn't have the spoiler nor does the Pro's but if anyone else could ever check their trucks and take pics then we could compile useful information. Especially if someone is looking to change bumpers they could avoid the need to buy additional adapters and have to bypass the stupid thing.

 

I think it's a good idea to have, but still not sure if I actually have one.
I'll probably just have to blow by a toll booth and wait for the front license plate pic they take to come in the mail. More maybe I can run a stoplight, but not sure if we have those cameras in my state. I'd have to be going pretty fast though!

I read that there is a way to deploy the spoiler while parked. You need to hold the left turn signal on or something like that to get the spoiler to come down. Does anyone have this procedure to help in this thread data collection?

Here is the info about the spoiler.

 

The theory is that the active air dam improves mileage because there is less turbulence under the truck because of all of the brackets and uneven surfaces under the truck. But if you have the TRD Skid plate and a CAT plate is the active air dam going to make an improvement in gas mileage? From what I have seen the SR5 with the TRD off-road does not have the air dam. However, the Limited with the TRD off-road does have the active air dam. I'm getting an SR5 with the TRD off-road but delivery is still 3 weeks out yet.

 

That was the funny thing to me is why the SR5 Off-road does not have a spoiler but the limited Off-road does. My buddy was shocked when he got his limited OR and it had one. My SR5 Off-road is due in 3 weeks as well, Can not wait to get rid of this one I have now.

That looks like a TRD sport correct? I know all TRD sports have a spoiler.

22 Limited DC TRD-OR with spoiler
23 Plat HV Adv Package with spoiler

 

23 Platinum. It has the active front spoiler.

 

2022 SR5 TRD Sport DC has the spoiler.
