For the guys and gals who run them and what set up are you using? I think that this will improve the over all health of the cooling system. I'm leaning towards a spin on like the un treated Wix with a shut off. How are you hooking in pros and cons. Sunfish

This is the first I’ve ever heard of a coolant filter. I had to look it up. I saw this which might help you narrow it down:

“It is important to know which type of coolant is in your radiator and match it to the correct coolant filters.”

Toyota pink factory filled long life coolant is what came in my 5.7 and plan to stay with it. I don't want a treated filter for a gasoline engine just one that filters out any particles

All my vehicles came with coolant filters. Some call them heater cores. Easy to tell when replacement is due. Especially in winter.

I don't believe there is any reason to add a coolant filter, I’ve never read of any need for one in the 5.7, I doubt they have any casting sand in the block like the 6.0 powestrokes. So if there is no debris in the coolant, then no need for a filter.

I installed one in my 7.3 because i cracked my radiator in the middle of no where and had to use the old black pepper trick till i could get home, which surprisingly worked well enough in a pinch. The filter did a good job getting all the pepper out of the system before I installed a mishimoto radiator.

I drive semis for a living, they all have coolant filters..
I didn't know they had one until one failed and I was broke down for 5 hours outside New Boston, Texas several years ago.
Mechanic brought the wrong one and had to go back to Texarkana and get the right one..:eek2::oops:

Yep. them too. They haven't made much of a sacrifice on my behalf.
