I need to reboot one of my CV axles but hate cleaning the grease off of that damn thing. Outside of a parts degreaser you'd find at a shop, who has a quick and affordable way of cleaning the fucker?

I watched a video recently where they used that purple cleaner to clean it up. It was on YouTube and I found it looking for RCV axle assembly... sorry I don't know the exact name but he said it 'works for him' FWIIW

Mineral spirits is one of my go to degreasers for stuff like that (it's what I use in my parts washer)

Before I had a parts washer, I just used a plastic tub with some mineral spirits in it, throw the part in, clean it up with brushes and rags (nitrile gloves are highly recommended) and let it dry off. Surface rust can develop after awhile when the mineral spirits evaporates.

An overnight soak in purple power or zep does pretty good too, especially if it's warm. It should dissolve all the grease.

I don’t like using cleaners or degreasers on internal parts. I like using a solvent of similar base, like the mineral spirits. Also no real point in completely degreasing them if you’re just gonna grease em up again. I would wipe the majority off to do the reboot and just grease em back up before banding them. And wear some nitrile gloves. Doing the tear down and reassembly on some cardboard to keep the mess down.
