First off, my 11 year old is more tech savvy than me, so bear with me.
I’m traveling to Alaska this summer & would like to have some wi-fi during my trip. Does it make sense to sign up for the AT&T hot spot for my 2022 Tundra?? How reliable is it? If I have no phone signal in the Yukon, then no wi-fi also?
How far away from the truck does the signal reach?
Is there a better option without spending too much $? Starlink is too much for me on a two month trip.
Would like to hear what others experience has been.
    Appreciate any help!

Any of the big-3 carrier or integrated truck wifi options will all use cell reception, so if you know there is limited cell signal then you might have to look at satellite options.

A solution I did when traveling for a few months was to upgrade by T-mobile phone plan to include 100gb of hotspot data. This was way more than I needed and worked well. I know carriers also have hotspot plans/devices if you want a dedicated option besides your phone.

All 3 carrier's coverage looks pretty sparse outside of Anchorage in Alaska. Satellite might be the way to go if you are outside of these areas. Never had any experience with Satellite, so hopefully others can weigh in.

I have a Netgear hotspot on a 30 buck a month extra phone line on T-Mobile. I can suspend it when I don't need it(for I think up to 90 days at a time, have not wanted to suspend it yet) I have a cel booster in my truck with a deployable external antenna that gets reasonable signal when it was poor, it's been a great solution for me.

    Have a safe trip.

Check your local facebook marketplace. I've seen the starlink equipment for reasonably priced. Just buy a used one, and sell it for what you paid when you are done.

Hotspots are great, but gotta have a signal for it to work.

We take our dogs to the vet in Mexico, the first time before I got the booster T-Mobil had no signal. With it I have good signal.
