I was curious of this as well. Seeing a lot of people taking new Bilsteins of their Tacoma’s and are ending up for sale.

It sounds like a lot of people put Tundra coils on Tacoma’s and 4 runners for a lift. I think the shocks fit too but I think I saw somewhere that the top hat is different on the 3rd gen Tacoma and Tundra and you need to swap them.

I see Tundra suspension components on Tacoma’s a good bit and there are a ton of threads on it. However, I have yet to see people putting Tacoma suspension components on a first gen Tundra. I feel like there has to be someone on this forum that has tried it (or at least knows the answer). The spring rates looks fairly comparable.

    Resurecting an old thread.

I was wondering the same thing. I see Gen-3 Tacoma take-offs for sale frequently. Would be great if they fit my Gen-1 Tundra.

    Anyone have an update?

You could look up the part numbers for different manufacturers, and find out if they're the same number or not

I did check the part numbers and they don't match -- which is what I would have expected. And you can tell by looking at them that the design is slightly different but quite similar. It would be interesting if someone had access to some Tacoma shocks/spring take-offs when they were doing suspension work on their 1st Gen Tundra to do some fitting.

Will not work. Even if the top cap bolt pattern were the same, lower sleeve, reservoir mount... valving would be way off, and the compressed & extended lengths are also way off. Specs below:

    (05+ Tacoma) Fox 2.5 Coilover 0-3″ FOX-880-02-418 compressed: 17.59 extended: 22.48 <-- uses a 13x600lb spring
    (00-06 Tundra) Fox 2.5 Coilover 0-3″ FOX-880-02-420 compressed: 14.550 extended: 19.940 <-- uses a 16 x 650lb spring
