I am working on a chrome delete of my ‘23 Limited HV. My last piece is the grille surround. Yea, I should have bought the snap on overlay. I didn’t, and I’ll pay for it (probably).

My question is, after replacing the trim will I need to re-calibrate the TSS sensor? How is that done? No applicable YouTube video I’ve seen addresses the issue.

Perhaps I’m better off having Toyota service do this? In which case I might as well have them update the entire grille with light bars too?!! And for that matter when I lift the truck the TSS sensor will need to be adjusted again, right?

    Thanks.

You don't need to calibrate if after swapping out the surround. Just make sure you don't start the truck with the sensor unplugged. Once the lift is done, you won't need to have it calibrated unless you start having issues. I'm not familiar with the 22 and newer TSS, but I did not have any issues when I installed a 4/2 lift on my 2020 with TSS.

Redid my entire front clip, new bumper with all the sensors moved, swapped to the smoked grill, had to completely remake a camera mount and the radar pad to see through the new bumper. New shutter unit and cut down the spoiler motor with an adapter & moved it. Everything works, no recalibrating was needed. Battery unplugged and like the last post mentioned DO NOT start it with anything unplugged or the system will freak out.

No issues. I had mine apart last weekend for a grille swap, everything works as it should. Cameras, sensors, etc.20241026_102011.jpg

Amazing. How’d it workout with your clips? Any break? I’m nervous of that too.

Suspect you'll find a snapped clip or two already when tearing it down, some are extremely thin material at critical mount points, seriously disappointed with Toyota and this. That said, it isn't showstopper and you don't have to buy new parts if you have a hot glue gun, not joking about that. Redid several on my rebuild to avoid buying new overpriced plastic and reinforced a few of the weaker spots found. Added an inner screen to protect the radiator and intercoolers too, cleaned a lot of garbage out of all of them and found spots where large debris had hit all 3, truck only had 8,000mi on it.

Does Toyota offer OEM color matched grille surround pieces? I imagine it would be cheaper than bumpershellz maybe? How would I find the blueprint pieces specifically?
