Anyone have any experience with using an atv winch attached to the front tie down rack to pull a disabled atv up ramps into the bed ? More likely a heavier utility atv. (Grizzly 700)
    Asking for future reference !

You’re going to need a serious mount for the winch to safely do this. Sounds extremely dangerous unless you cut through the bed and the winch is frame mounted somehow

Get a couple buddies and just push it up. I push my 450r up by myself but it's half the weight of a grizzly.

My front bed corners and front of the bed are bent/deformed just from securing dirt bikes against it. I wouldn't trust it to pull any sort of weight into the truck. I purchased the Relentless Fab corner braces for the front of the bed just to make sure that the front wall stays there while the bikes are in there.

Using the winch on the grizzly, not a bed mounted winch.

I still wouldn't attach the winch cable to the inside of the bed and winch it in. Same forces are applied to the weak bed.

Either bed mounted or Grizzly mounted, I don’t see a safe way of doing this unless you rig something up via the frame.

Without the frame mount, this seems like a surefire way to get hurt. Why not get a trailer to pull your ATV? This would be a better option, not to mention safer if/when you have to load up a disabled ATV. Degree of loading ramp is less, so it would be less weight to push/winch. Not to mention you can attach (or there already are) a solid anchor point for winches, straps, etc.

So if the rolling weight of the grizzly is less than the rating of the tie down rack, it should work.
Sounds like a job for mythbusters

The tie down is not meant to have a 600+ lb item being pulled on it up a ramp. No way. It will pull out of the bed and go flying at you.

Back your tundra down into a smaller ditch and push it in, strap it in good and drive out. Otherwise 3 guys can push it in up ramps if it's not running and can't drive it up the ramps. I had a grizzly 660 and did this.

    Serious note.

The front of the bed/rail is not that strong. Even strapping down a dirtbike makes the rails Flex. I have rack installed just to alleviate the problem. Using the rails etc for an anchor pioint to haul 700 lbs up a ramp is asking for trouble.

You can also drive the front wheels up a birm. Ive seen someone do this far enough to drive a razr into their truck

Ive had to do this before, but you won’t always have a berm/ditch to make loading easier nor will it always be accessible (water, obstructions, mud, etc)

Best option is always have a buddy with you or get a trailer. Just my .02
