Likely the seals are tight, if the window sense to much pressure it goes back down. Mine was doing this after replacement, it didn't last for me and only happened a couple times. Try giving them a wipe.

In the past the way to reset the limit switches on Toyota auto windows was to hold 'open' on the switch for a few seconds after the window stops then repeat the same holding 'up'. Auto should work normally afterwards.

Have you installed any wind deflectors by chance? If they are in channel they may need to be adjusted - if the window sensor identifies too much pressure or an obstruction it will roll down (safety feature for when people were rolling their kids and dogs head into the windows......)

Out of curiosity, did you disconnect your battery recently?

This happened to my back passenger side window after I disconnected my battery for an unrelated reason. The dealership "reinitialized" the window and it's worked fine ever since. The work was covered under warranty.

My Capstone does this too, till this day. I first noticed it around March/April earlier this year.

If I rolled my windows down and then quickly reverse it back up, instead of rolling up, it would stop at 1/4 down. If I quickly pull up on the switch again, instead of it rolling up, it would roll down to halfway down. I thought that maybe I had somehow stumbled upon some secret "cracked" window trick? I brought my truck into the dealership for something and ended up asking them about this, they verified that there is now such feature. So yeah, definitely agree with some users on here that there's gotta be some seal issue. Noticed it happening to the passenger window today, where I could not replicate this scenario with that window before. Since I'm going to go in to get my second fob tomorrow (11 months later), I will bring this up to them again and see what they say.

So how do we fix this? Just happened to me now. Front passenger would come down about 1/4 after rolling Al the way up from the driver side.

My passenger was able to roll it up from his seat and not have the same issue.

After some reading…. I cleaned the seal and top of the window and that fixed it. Weird.

I'm sure it has something to do with the seal. I've noticed that this often occurs when it rains.
