This just happened with my wifes Highlander and I'm expecting it with the Tundra like most winters here in the northeast.
Cracked windshield from a rock on the road. Replaced the glass and was told by insurance they cover the cost of calibration. Contacted Toyota and they said its neccessary because we'll have all kinds of warning lights from the lane departure, auto-highbeam and cameras on teh front not working right.
Got her glass replaced to day and have no lights. Cameras working fine. Seems all good. Am I wasting my time? Its an hour drive each way to dealer and they say it takes at least two hours out of my life?
Do I need this aggravation if everything is working fine?

Just depends. The lawyers will tell you to recalibrate every time. Realistically, I would only bother with it if there are warning lights after the windshield is replaced. If the installer is able to put everything back exactly where it should be, you may not have to mess with it. But when the camera is being removed and reinstalled, there is always a chance it will need it.

Watch this video (and his others in the series) for the in-depth explanation.

That should be part of the windshield install. I know the windshield repair place I use does the recalibration before you pick it up if it is a car that has those systems.
