How much windshield tint should I do to just block heat? I don’t want too dark otherwise it would be very hard to drive at night. My sides windows are 5% all around.

    50% Ceramic here...

The rest of my windows are lighter than yours.

Looks good I think with 50% there might not be any night time driving problem?

    Correct! That's why I chose 50% Ceramic.

Ceramic tint blocks heat much better. So use ceramic. As far as darkness, I usually go one step darker than the legal limit here in VA.
I have done the really dark tint before and it made the car miserable to drive at night, unsafe in some circumstances.

Yeah, that's why I didn't go very dark on the front side windows.

I've driven plenty of cars with 50% windshields, it's not too bad. But if you get and rain storms or the like, it's a bit too dark for me.

I'm looking at 80% ceramic for my front now.

After watching tons of YouTube videos and your suggestions I think I will go with 50% ceramic tint.

I only add an 8" brow, 50% ceramic across the top to all my vehicles. I just need to block mid-morning/evening sun. Don't need to use a visor with that and I can still see thru it, even at night.

I don't think its legal to tint to whole front in texas yet I could be wrong and I'm more sure many do it anyway...

My Ram has 50% Ceramic on the windshield and it drastically helped cool the interior during the AZ summers, even with the other windows all being 5%

    Too many, but not enough....
This is what I have and worked perfectly in California summer heat. Windshield didn't even feel hot.

I used to run 35% on all mine, I guess I’m getting old, left this one clear. I think 50% will slightly be noticeable cutting down visibility at night, but probably not bad. If I was gonna do it today I’d be looking at a 70-80%.

50% Windshield and color matched the front two with the back, no issues.

Did you put anything on the rear? The factory glass is really nothing more than color, it won't reflect heat like ceramic tint does.

I did not. Just did the front two windows and passenger, but it was only $280.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people lately where I live with their windshields tinted. I thought it was illegal also.

It is illegal almost everywhere with a couple exceptions I believe. My wife and I have yet to have an issue or know anyone that has. I'm a retired LEO, I've used unlawful tint as a reason to stop a car, but never worried about it unless the driver's attitude changed my mind.

Are you all worried about cracking or chiping the windshield? Are you getting any warranty on the tint or do you just take the risk?

Just looked it up. Texas you can tint but only clear tint and not alter color. I hear clear ceramic works really good.

I mean, it could happen but the tint shop ain’t gonna redo it for free. Mine said I’d have to pay to have the new glass re-tinted which, unfortunately makes sense.

As long as you use a quality tint, you shouldn't need to worry too much about what % VLT it is.
Nano Ceramic IR tint, the highest grade, even in the lightest shade, 50% VLT, provides about the same energy rejection and UV rejection as 5% VLT
