Hello fellow Tundrians I am looking to buy a set of Step Bars for my truck. I live in Minnesota so lots of snow and ice. I've had Step Bats and Nerf Bars on other trucks and from my experience the round tube Nerf Bars can be treacherous when icy. So looking for a moderate to wide step.
The other thing is, MN is in the Rust belt, they salt the crap out of our roads. So would like to hear from people living in the Rust Best and how yours are holing up.
    Thanks in advance.

    Too many, but not enough....
Get some cheap boards and hit em with a couple cans of raptor lining

Wow ,those would do the trick. The Raptor liner thing would work too if I can find a grip suitable for ice.

    Here is what I have…

    https://parts.toyota.com/p/Cast-Aluminum-Running-Boards/91139436/PT76734190.html

Well worth the money IMHO, I paid about 675 shipped if I recall correctly..

They are cast aluminum which will hold up much better than steel in the winter with salt. They have a super rough surface (will tear slacks and stockings), sit nice and tight to the body, function very well, and look great.FA33BA07-0EF2-4E49-8413-F14EBE68C72D.jpg1CA02387-940F-42C7-BDC8-F438C55E3824.jpg

I have Nfab steps and I live in the Western New York snow belt. Never had an issue with slipping when getting in and out. No rust yet either but they've only seen 1 winter so far.

"holing up" in the Rust Belt.

    Two random comments.

One, I put grip tape on the tops of some sliders once and the first time I hopped out wearing shorts I removed a good layer of skin on my calf, and so you might want to thoroughly test your grippy solution if it's permanent.

Two, my RCI sliders sometimes sort of cake up with snow and ice, to such an extent that the snow can accumulate to the level of the door affecting the door operation. I am not sure if maybe hitting it with cooking spray before driving in the snow will help. Am curious if others experience this.

aluminum, will not rust and you can use bedliner for some extra grip if needed.

Had them on another truck and never used them to step on. They did a nice job of collecting snow that I had to clear.

The first ones I suggested are aluminum, so they work well in salt and magnesium chloride road mix.

APS iBoards are awesome. Aluminum, no slip, sturdy, less than $300.
I got these just to get me by when I first bought the truck, but I love em.

Lmao seeing this post and remembering how many times I busted my knees shins etc on my NFAB stainless steel bars. They’re the worst. Fortunately I live in TX but there were some close calls exiting as well.

The other thing I'm thinking is, at over $500, I could make a set to my own liking. I just made my own Cat shields and they turned out ok but I was in a hurry to get them done. These I could take my time. Use 1x1 square tube for the framing and 1/8 plate for the steps. Drill 1 inch hole in the step plates and dimple die them.

I really like the grip on those, I cant imagine ever slipping or ice forming, heck even the snow would just fall through.
I like the Move one you posted also and the price is right, bummer they don't make them for the Tundra.

I can speak from experience on these. You will not slip on them. We have had mud caked frozen ice all over them and traction is never an issue.

On one of my trucks many moons ago I slipped on some oval step bars and ate it hard. Glad I was in my 20’s and bounced back rather quickly. Now…probably would have tore an ACL or broke something.

the current steps on my truck are not great either and will be replaced with some of the Move brand.

I would call them. The more people that call might kick them in the butt. They make nice bumpers for the Tundra.

Upon further looking at their website, most of their stuff is weld up kits, which is fine with me.
Oops, I was looking at the weld up section, lol

Didn’t even know that…. I love them and they are very rugged looking compared to anything else Toyota offers. Changed the whole look of the truck IMHO.

How far do they extend past the door, do they offer any door ding protection?

Well, I ended up buying a cheap set off of ebay to get me through the winter. I bought a set for a Crewmax when mine is a Double cab thinking they would just have 1 bracket to be moved. they fit but are off as far as placement. they got me through the winter fine and are rusting already as expected. Hopefully bStep bars.jpg Step bars 2.jpg y fall I will build a set to my liking and these will go.

My plan was to build my own for awhile but just don't have time. I just ordered a set of these only for a Double Cab. Different seller but same manufacturer.
    Thanks for the tip.
I will post pics when I get them installed.
