dirty sensor, of if you are lifted, may need recalibration. Generally is sensor/recalibration. Check sensor wiring.. However, have you checked for stored error codes, there could be more going on. Need a scan tool or hit your local autozone or similar and they can scan it for you.

Have you tried turning parking assist off?

I had a similar but different problem. My front camera was defective causing my truck to throw a "Front Camera Unavailable" message about every 10 minutes while driving. When the error message displayed it would disable adaptive cruise and front collision detection. A new front camera has fixed the problem, so far.

    Good luck

Almost anything that throws a code kills Parking Assist, Active Collision Assist, Both Cruise Controls, and Lane Trace Assist. I’ve had a loose gas cap a few times and lost all of these until I could reset with a scan tool. (Right at the beginning of a 1200 mi. trip) Stupid and maddening. (carry my scan tool fill time now)

When my front camera failed, I still had regular cruise, but not adaptive cruise. Everything else you mentioned was disabled.

It's crazy how all these systems are linked. I got my first taste of it on my 2015 Tundra when it ate a rear wheel bearing. That caused a wheel speed sensor failure, which caused a ABS failure. That also disabled all 4WD functionality, which was a major PITA because I was on a hunt at the time, and was reliant on 4WD.

It seems as time passes the more I enjoy the simplicity of my old 1981 Jeep CJ7.

Yup, the wheel bearing and ABS problem at around 80K miles, and a leaking water pump at around 100K. That's all I remember. I traded it for my Gen 3 with 140k on it. Overall it was a very reliable truck, and it held its value well.

it's been a different story with my Gen 3, so far. Is what it is...

Very nice. I had a '79 CJ5 with the 304. I sold that one to buy my Father's '81 CJ7 because it was in better shape, and I liked the extra room in the CJ7. I quickly learned that the 258 I6 in Dad's Jeep was a dog compared to the 304.

It took me 30 years to get around to restoring Dad's '81. But I finally got a V8 in her (AMC 360).

Now, she's mostly a garage queen. I take her out on nice days for nostalgic sake. I should find some kid who would really enjoy it, but I just can't let it go, yet.
