It was easy to find on my old tundra and 4Runner. I wrapped them in high temp tape to muffle the noise. It sounds like the beep is coming from the driver's side headlight..

    Horn?

Mine only beeps once when I lock, twice when I unlock.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read your post carefully. I see you are talking whatever makes the beeping noise, correct?

Out of curiosity, why do you want to muffle the beep?

    You're arguing semantics.

Whatever you want to call the device that produces noise when locking and unlocking the doors. I want to muffle it.

I am not getting the 1 beep chirp when hitting the lock button using the smart key fob. I have turned it off somewhere, somehow and now cannot find where to turn this on. I would like to have the audible notification as confirmation the truck is locked when I press the fob with my back turned. I have read the manual completely, studied both the multimedia and the multi-info displays settings, looked at the customization features.... but cannot find where to set this. Thanks in advance for any tips.

It's in the head unit settings somewhere.

Get to the Toyota screen on the big display then:

    Settings (Little gear icon)
    Vehicle Customization
    Door Control
Scroll down on the right side of the door control section and you'll see a slider for Feedback Tone.
I initially turned mine off as well because I thought it would get rid of the engine running walk away beeps but it didn't. It's nice to hear the lock beep when using the FOB while walking away from the truck just to confirm it's locked... Hope this helps.

That is exactly where I thought the adjustment resided and I have been adjusting the Feedback Tone numerous tries and at different levels, but when locking with the fob, no tone is played. The lights blink once as part of the locking (and twice when unlocking) but there is no tone. I need to try something else. I have the new v2170 and your mail sorta confirms the upgrade did not affect this feature.

I just went to the truck and confirmed that's the right setting at least for my truck. Turned it all the way down and no beeps, turned it back up, got beeps. I did go back to settings each time I made a change. Is it possible you have to do that to "save" the new setting? I suppose there could be a bug in 2070? I'm on 2050.

Thanks for your assistance. I did exactly as you described a half dozen times and no beeps. The DRLs flash properly but no chirps. I need to look somewhere else.

All I have left to suggest is check out the s/w update thread. There are a few that also have 2170. Maybe one of them could help determine if it's a problem with that version or not.
