Whatever this forum told me to do
I have the luxury of working from 5am to 2pm-ish...so I generally miss traffic.

However, when I do have to drive in it, I am reminded of the general decay in human society.

most of today's young folk can't do basic math problems...yet, can drive down the FREEWAY whilst simultaneously interacting with social media on their phone.
It's incredible what we choose to educate society in.
We can teach them to efficiently navigate a highly sophisticated hand held computer, yet they can't read, write or do math.

I'll be on the lake this weekend.

    Yea, anything inside 610 is a hard-no.
A few years back (more than 5) I worked in a food industry warehouse east of DT and we start at 7a, so I usually get up at 5 and leave before 530a (I was by Bellaire & 8 at that time) and just get there by 630a-ish. The amount of traffic on I-10 by 5 mins can make or kill your commute. The worst part? Cross-over 45/10/59/69, almost never a day without an accident or some shithead trying to make a very last minute merge that requires everyone else to slam on the brakes at 6am in the morning. But I do get off at 3p, and if I don't get delayed, I beat the traffic and can see it in my rear view mirror as I race home from there.....

Wife and I were looking at houses yesterday, we need something bigger, around 3000 sq ft, newer (under 5 years) and those are coming up half a mil, and HOA can be over $3k a year..... yea, nope. Oh, and some of those are outside 99......
Now I am thinking that Sealy parcel land was too good a deal that I let pass......

I used be in O&G with SLB and CVX for 25 years, few expat deals and retired early few years back. My wife is still with O&G. Couldn't stay home so young so I went back to work in the banking industry :) I've been working from home since Covid and never got back in the office :) My truck loves it as I only have 4300 miles on it and that's from a trip to Big Bend :)

I'm jelly of all you clean O&G farts. My time in the field was on the floor in 12 hour shifts being wet, cold and very very dirty. I still can't look at a grocery bag and not think of how we used them to try and keep our socks dry.

We need a bigger house too but unless the wife makes CEO (fat chance lol), we can't fork out . 5M for new digs. We really want some land and I'd love to put some cows on it.

I also used to be a logistics broker but only worked with trucks and the occasional rail load. Got out after the recession ate into my profits.

Pray tell, speed for transmitting human interaction?:rofl:
Oh yea, I got asked many times even that's not our vessel, not our calling port, nothing.
Even our oversea branches are asking the same stupid question as if this will affect us, we DON'T CALL THAT PORT DAMN IT.

Yeap, my last house for retirement, we built 10 years ago, not going anywhere from here. Only addition I need is a nuclear bunker under the pool :)

Where in SL area has an acre land? I would jump for those even if I have to wait for them to build it, but at least to our specs and need. I can stay there until I die.....

Can't touch one or two acres now in Sugar Land unless you pay 200K plus and is very hard to find. I got mine 25 years ago on Palm Royale in Commonwealth and in Sienna area and kept these lots. Got them for pennies. Built 10 years ago here in this area --> 29°28'01.6"N 95°29'29.2"W I sold the Palm Royale few years back and made a killing as I didn't wanna build there.

25 years ago.....damn. No wondering you are living life with two Tundras.....haha
Just looked up the cords, does that area flood? That bend is easy to flood and I think Harvey did flood that area bad? Or did I mistaken that for another part?

Sugar Land and Missouri City were built on a swamp :) My area didn't flood during Harvey but many others did around me in SL and MC. Is all about the levy systems and pumps. When I built my house I actually went higher than the standards elevation and cost me about 10K to go so much higher.

Smart man. My father bought 8 acres outside of the small town I grew up in. My wise grandfather was City Manager at the time and knew the area well. Told him to build up a pad where the house would go so my Dad brought in tons of dirt from old rig sites (stuff they scrape off to prep the site for digging a hole, etc). It was free because my Uncle owned the company and originally would pay to dump it. We have literally had it flood to the point everything around us was underwater except for the pad he built up. He's in farm land territory and water could be seen for miles... We would be an island unto ourselves when that would happen.

My Houston brothers I need a shop recommendation for 2 small projects on my 2021 that I would like to finish. I am not mechanically / DIY inclined to do any of this so I rather pay someone to do it the right way. I have all the parts ready to go. Any recommendation please and I appreciate it.

    - Driver side grab handle swap / install
    - Driver side LED and auto window up/down switches swap / install
