A few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon, wife is in garage with me and says: "Why don't you jus take off those step bar things...they look terrible." And, yes they did. OEM side bars were getting some rust and had faded enough to make you wonder if the truck's prior owners spent some time on the surface of the sun. And there's nothing I've found to easily bring them to better. And lastly, I've never really liked them. So, grabbed the drill with socket and 15 mins later it was done.
Wish I would have done this sooner. Cleaner look...maybe leaning to a bit simple. But I like it looking "better" without using a credit card to do it fosho!
For just an SR trim level, she's holding her own for the pose.

Changed the battery. First start with the new battery installed and the truck died immediately then starts fine after that. Is this normal?

Tucked the 315/70 spare under the bed, it barely fits. Does anyone have problems with heat from the exhaust or shackles rubbing the tire? Also, I started drilling those rivets and quickly grew impatient and found a better solution. Took five minutes with the old air hammer and chisel bit. One last thought, how do you delete the spare tire safety key system? Can you drill that thing out to reveal the normal slot?
