@BlackWolf, Good to get cleared for another time period.

I did my 10 year colonoscopy a month ago, had 3 polyps, two at 2 mm height but axially long, and one at 5 mm. They removed them. Good news was also they said to come back in 7 years. I will be 79 then, and I think that is the last time they will do the test. One note on drinking the fluid: mix it the day before and put it in the fridge, having it cold helped a lot.

Thanks Den. Glad to hear your colon is good to go for another 7. That fluid does suck. A lot.....

Had a health scare a couple months ago……chest pain at 2am and lost consciousness. Wife called paramedics and they hooked me up to an ekg - showed I was 95% blocked and having a stemi (the widowmaker). Gave me nitroglycerin, rushed me to ER where they did another ekg and showed the same. Delivered immediately to the cath lab and had cardiac cath and they put the camera up the femoral artery and got to the heart - NO BLOCKAGE. The cardiologist was amazed and said it didn’t make sense. They did EVERY possible test and couldn’t figure it out - ruled out blood clots, pulmonary embolism, anything abdominal, carotid scan, ultrasounds, etc. Literally the only thing they could point to was that I had covid a few months prior…..

Anyway after that I decided to take my health a bit more seriously and got my first colonoscopy last week. Completely clean. Between that and the cardiac work up I am the picture of health apparently.

I asked my doctor to give me SOMETHING that was wrong with me to work toward. He said “be thankful that all this stuff checked out.” And i very much am!!!!

Interesting that you mentioned you had Covid a couple months earlier. My wife who had two PVC ablation procedures was doing great till after Covid. Her heart would sky rocket to 140 for no reason, scary stuff for sure. It’s been a few months now that she is back to normal, and I’m grateful for that. You are not alone wrt Covid after effects.

Been awhile since I've updated. Just had bloodwork, Lupron shot, and a very good discussion with my oncologist. PSA still <0.01 ng/mL. All functions normal. Good to go until next 90 day follow up. Still beating this thing.

Short and sweet. Had my 90 day followup. Bloodwork. 5 panels. All in the green zone. PSA level....0.01 ng/L. Excellent. Cancer still in remission after 6 years. Hanging in there! Can't get rid of me here yet!!! Just ordered some Canuck Cheezies...

    Congratulations @Black Wolf...

I too have beat (so far) Prostate cancer... Initial PSA was 12... Did the radiation treatment... They implanted gold markers/seeds... Implanted some gel... Did Hormone treatment... and a balloon up my butt for all 32 treatments... The gel and balloon was to hold everything in an exact place for the beam treatment... It's been close to 3 years now and everything is good... PSA is below a .02 ... The cancer ended up being the least of my worries...

Feb 4th (this year) I was having lower back pain... I was at work at the time... Thought I just slept wrong or twisted wrong... Pain started getting a little more intense... Then all of a sudden the pain moved around to the front in the abdomen/pelvic area... Boss said if you need to go home we got this covered... Yea, I think I better.. After being home for an hour the pain was getting worse... Told my wife something aint right we better go to the E-room... Finally get in a room and they did a CT scan of the abdomen area... It was like a 4 alarm fire after they seen the results... Drs and Nurses come running in the room... Put blood pressure monitors on both legs and both arms... Come to find out it was a leaking aneurysm.. Right in the aorta where it splits and goes down both legs... Well, they couldn't do anything for me at that hospital so they said they were trying to figure out whether to drive me or Airlift me to Tampa General Hospital (45 minutes by car)... 5 minutes later they come back and said your gonna go for a helicopter ride... I remember landing but that's it... 5 hrs later after the surgery (Called a Triple A surgery, Aorta Abdomen Aneurysm) I came too in ICU... They ended up slicing me open from my breastbone all the way down to my little wee wee.. 72 staples worth... 6 days in the hospital... I no sooner got home and developed UTI... I had no control over my bladder... Couldn't hold it, stop it, nothing... It would go when it wanted to...And it wanted to about every 15 minutes... About a shot glass worth each time... GREAT... Now what am I gonna do... Can't sit on the toilet all the time... Filled a diaper up in 30-45 minutes... HMMMMM... What the hell am I gonna do... I ended up using a gatorade bottle taped to me leg with my little wee wee stuck inside of it... Worked like a champ... LOL.. Talk about McGyver'n ... Called my Urologist and they said No openings for 2 days... Fortunately I have his cell phone number... Texted him and told him what was going on.. He said "GET HERE RIGHT NOW"... So he prescribed antibiotics and that did the trick... But bladder is still outta wack after almost 2 months.. As is my bowels ...

I don't understand why the aneurysm wasn't detected when they did all the MRI's and cat scans for the prostate cancer... You would think they surely would have been able to see it.. Dr said it was a pretty big one at 10 cm's ...

Back to the operating Dr 4 weeks later to have staples removed... He said, "Keith, You are a VERY, VERY, VERY LUCKY MAN that that didn't burst... And you sure made me work for that one... that was tough" ... I said, "Good.. I don't want to see anybody get over easy"... We both laughed...

All is good at the moment except the incision/scar is still very tender and soar to the touch after 2 months.. I'm suppose to go back to work on the 22nd but I'm thinking of having that extended for a few more weeks yet.. What the hell.. I'm getting paid and Dr's nurse said if you need more time just let me know...

Sorry about carrying on and making this so long and high jacking the thread...

So YES... go get your PSA checked...

    BTW... I'm 62 1/2 YO now...

Congratulations Matt and Keith! Thanks for sharing Keith your story. We have a friend who just got diagnosed with prostrate cancer, and he is in his Lat 50s. Good to hear of other alternatives other than surgery.

My general doctor sent me for an aorta scan last year and said Medicare would cover the test as k was a smoker in my 20s for awhile. My results were good.

I used to be a runner, running s few marathons at 50 and many half’s and 5Ks. Well due to get older I have been decreasing my running till where it became just a 2 mile run a couple times a week, then couple times a month. It felt running the hills near my new home was a bit much. Well, I got 5 yards of garden diet and 7 yards of black bark for the landscaping. Working out doing that set my heart running erratically. My Apple Watch ekg was telling me I was having afib. I’ve always have had PVCs, but a very low rate and low heart rate, usually 44-52 resting. On top of all that I have had episodes where my heart rate has dropped below 40 while drinking my coffee in the morning. But the low heart thing was like every 6 months, but I had 2 readings in 3 days. I decided to see my doctor and she did the EKG in The office and blood tests. Blood was ok except for Potassium and Glucose was 0.1 high. Blood retest a week later (after some watched food eating) had everything normal. I get into see a cardiologist 10 days after the regular doctor. I leave with a heart monitor and schedule for heart UT and stress test and blood thinner script. Blood thinner script was due I stay away from Asperin as I had reactions to it 40 years ago. Feeling a tad better and no dirt moving, I still have about 1.5 yards left. Three days later I get a call out of the blue from the cardiologist. He said my heart stopped for 3 seconds on Sunday at 11:25. I think I was sitting down at the time. To cut to the chase, I am to get scheduled for a pacemaker. Anyways, my story has not quite ended but I’m still above ground. BTW, I am 73.

Above ground is always a good thing Den! I had an Afib issue recently that was corrected by getting two cardioversions, followed by an ablation procedure, and one more cardioversion to fix the atrial flutter that remained. Good to go so far with that. Keep us up to date with the pacemaker installation. 68 here.

I got a call from the scheduling gal for my pacemaker and it was to be May 1. A couple days later she called back and said they want to move it up 6 days. I went in for the procedure 48 hours ago, and before the procedure the cardiologist came to answer questions and he showed me the EKG showing my heart stopping for 3 second, then continued for a little the stopped again for 3 seconds. Apparently it was stopping more than one in a blue moon. I feel better the second day after and I managed a 1.3 mile walk but tried to keep the pulse below 70 as I have a hill to go up x before I hit the flatter area. I did hit 81 on another rise on top. Felt good to stretch my legs. My normal now pacemaker low is 60 and the pacemaker max is 130. Glad to get the procedure done and I tell my kids it’s like getting a knife stuck in your shoulder. I’m keeping my fingers crossed this is the only thing I have to keep the ticker going.
