And it’s that connection I would like to terminate. Not just the connection, but the recording too.

Is it called the snitch delete mod?

    Snitch Snip mod?

What I say in my cab is none of your damn business mod?

In 2021, when I got the truck, I read in the manual:

"The recorded data varies according to the vehicle grade and options level. These computers do not record conversations or sound."

But… and this is a big butt. Go on the website and you learn more.

Wi-Fi Connectivity. Certain vehicles offer a trial of Wi-Fi connectivity (such as Wi-Fi Connect, a service offered by AT&T), which provides up to ten compatible devices with in-vehicle wireless connectivity. If you opt-in, these services may use your Voice Recordings.

So, it seems that one might not be sure what data or how the data is stored or used.

Ill opt out and hope for the best. But would like to snip, too.

Exactly. There's no realistic way to get away from it.

Unless you want to live completely off grid, build your own cabin with no internet and ride horseback into the village to buy supplies with cash or live solely off of the land like her

We're all being tracked in this moment as we're typing on a public forum.

They are still collecting info thru a sweepstakes they are currently playing. It is in the first paragraph one reads before entering. A person can earn points by completing driving tasks each day. I get a new email everyday asking me to enter!,, I delete it and go about my way!

I wonder how it works when you snatch out the factory radio and its apps, the black box for recording vehicle data is still in there, but the rest of the gps function and ability to connect back to Toyota should be lost unless tou down load another Toyota app

All data etc is transmitted via satellite, wi-fi and cell signals through the shark fin on your roof; cut it off and you'll be free :spy:

Does disabling the shark fin ant affect any other parts/systems of a 2021 era tundra?

I’ve researched this in tacos and 4Rs and there the answer was no. I need to disassemble my dash to see where the DCM is located. I haven’t been able to find that info. Unplugging the antenna connections there should disable the DCM, and only other impact is disabling the “onstar” type calling functionality (button on OH console). All theory at this point though.

    Interesting

Does that antenna also supply AM/FM?

Only thing I would really miss would be the free navigation that is still there on on my '21, which may or may not expire near the end of this year. I barely use the Nav, I barely even have the display on at all.

Apparently mine came with a faulty "On-star" software that required a computer update which I choose not to do. So that wouldn't be a loss because that doesn't actually work on my truck, and I don't have the subscription to that service.

I’m in a similar situation with the “on-star” functionality. I’d use my phone first anyway.

I’ve seen some indications that gps is unaffected, but need to find the DCM and test. I have a few priorities ahead of it currently. Take a look at post 119 on here for 4R approach to similar situation. https://www.4runners.com/threads/how-to-disconnect-the-tracking-telemetry-on-the-5th-gen-4runner.20628/page-4#post-261330

    a
nd this really well done write up disconnecting and terminating the antenna cables in a Tacoma. Later updates in the thread indicate disconnecting is sufficient.

    I'd assume... :notsure:

If you're considering doing something like that, I'd spend some serious time researching videos and such from others who have done it... Supposedly, all the GPS, Radio, XM, Wi-FI connectivity stuff runs through that one location. So, I'd imagine, it ties into several systems.
