    I am a huge fan of the Daytona jacks from harbor freight. Been using mine for a long time and if it ever does fail I will definitely get another as long as they are still making it. The picture I posted is the day I brought it home and that was in April of 2018

    Crazy. I believe my old man has a floor jack with a safety lock, but he uses jack stands no mater what as well. He’s says he doesn’t trust the safety lock.

    I've seen those safety locks floor jacks. Seem pretty good.

    Well ordered a jack that should last. This has been a bummer. I had a Michelin brand 3 ton jack that lasted 18 years without issue.

    Looked around and did some research and looks like the Big Red Torin 4 ton was always in the top two.

    That’s the one I’ve been eyeballing for my next home jack, would like to hear your opinion after you’ve had some time with it. My current one is a Princess Auto (Canadian version of Harbor Freight) branded one and has had a hydraulic weep for a while, and the torsion spring that holds the handle up broke a few years ago. Reading your story makes me want to scrap it sooner than later, even though I’ll never trust any of ‘em either.

    I can be a bit blunt when it comes to jack stands and dump box props. I’ve said things to coworkers like “If you don’t support that and I hear things go bad, I’m walking away in the opposite direction and am not coming back until the ravens stop circling.”

    Harsh maybe, but not compared to the reality of this topic. I used to know a commercial driver that died under his Peterbilt, don’t know the exact details other than it fell on him. That sucks when it’s 99.9999999% avoidable.

    Glad you avoided injury yourself, and thanks for sharing that reminder / lesson with the class. :)

    Damn, glad you're ok man. My jack stands always come out when I lift a truck. I keep the 6 tons down on the floor under the work bench and the smaller ones in my truck box just in case I have to do a roadside tire job. I have been eyeing the lock from Pro Eagle but can't see me not using the stands anyway.

    Jack and torsion keys came in. The "big red" is no joke. They had a lift when delivered at my front gate. I figured it wouldn't be an issue picking it up and walking up my 7* grade driveway.

    Nope. That is one heavy floor jack. Tractor made it easy.

    Upper control arms and Kings installed, and aligned.

    Now to fine tune the front and rear for empty, 50%, and 100% load.

    Took my wife out for a ride and she was shocked. :eek:

    Driveline vibrations are gone and the truck just absorbs these craptastic roads in CO.

    The good and bad:

    Start with bad. Price. This isn't a cheap upgrade. Is it worth it if affordable? Hell yes.

    Rear shock adjusters. For the couple times per year I may adjust these it may not be an issue.

    As you can see, the adjusters are not easily accessible. I will have to roll under the truck and make adjustments. I may remove the wheel well liners and use my super duper 4" hole saw and make an access point with quick 1/4 turn tabs. Now I can spend 300.00 and swap out the piggy back reservoir to a remote but mounting still might be an issue. More likely I will make an access port.

    Raising the front will hit me at the fuel station.

    The good.

    Looks great.

    Ride is amazing. All my HD trucks in the future will have performance shocks. To me, it is worth the ride benefits.

    Lifetime warranty on upper control arms and grease points. Ball joint is super easy to swap out.

    This also raised my fuel tank a bit. That 62 gallon tank hangs down a bit. Having a bit more clearance makes me feel warm and cozy.

    The alignment tech said my tie rods were a little difficult and wasn't surprised. 8 year old truck and they have never been touched. Yes, I have only had one alignment in 103K miles until this mod. I had it checked regularly but was always in spec and tire wear was always even.

    Went out by the house and tested the ride. Rears need to be a little less on compression damping and fronts need a bit added.

    Washboard roads that would have probably kicked my rear out pretty good on these turns at half the speed.
