    Hello,

It’s been a while since I’ve ben on here.

Hoping to find some advice on what to replace my bilstein 6112 leveling struts with. One has started leaking oil and the ride of the truck has gotten crappy over the years. I’ve gotten 6yrs and 80k miles out of them, so I’m not complaining.

I’d like to get a nice set of coilovers. I don’t need remote reservoirs because I don’t do any high speed stuff… just dirt roads mostly. Is the Old Man Emu setup any good? I don’t want to have to rebuild shocks periodically. I think that rules out king/fox/icon, but correct me if I’m wrong.

lastly, I REALLY want to get rid of the drivers side lean I’ve been dealing with for a few years. How do I do that?

    thanks for your help,
    Adam

I like mine so far for the price, and I adjusted the lean like you described. It’s nice being able to adjust them while they’re installed on the truck if needed.

    That’s awesome.

so, to clarify, once they’re installed, I can adjust them at home (with a spanner wrench?). If so, that’s perfect.
    Thanks!

Yessir. If you order the full Eibach pro truck kits they'll come with a spanner wrench in the box to allow for end-user adjustment of ride height. They're one of the more popular kits that we sell here at Hotshot Offroad, and honestly the most popular heads-up competitor to the 6112/5160 setup. We've even got a few on the shelf over here! Let me know if you have any questions.

There's always getting the newest gen 6112/5160 setup as well. We could get you a small top plate spacer for the driver's side to get rid of the lean.

Ive run OME on 4runner and other vehicles and run Eibach Pro truck setup on my Tundra. Both are good and worthwhile. OME is more off road centric, larger shock body and Eibach is more road focused but off road suitable.

Both great products, especially for the coin.

    Sweet!

    last question…

will the rear shocks ride at the same height as my current rear 6112s? On the site it says “+0-1.5” in the rear. Is the rear height adjustable somehow?

I might take the opportunity to change the leaf springs while I’m at it.
    Thanks again!

The rear shock length is good for a range between 0-1.5" of lift, but the shocks themselves won't do any lifting. If you're looking for leaves these ones are our most popular, and they're even on sale at the moment. I know that the written range of up to 1.5" on the shocks and the rear leaves lifting 1.75" are different, but we've found Eibach shocks tend to run a bit long so you'd be just fine if you were to go with that combo. If you do pick up new leaves don't forget your U-Bolts!

One more question for those who might know….

My existing leaf spring brackets are rotten. I’d like to buy some coach builder +1 shackles.

if I use both the icon leaf pack (+1.75” lift) AND the +1 CB shackles, will that stick the ass in the air 2.75” above where it is?

i have a camper shell and run around with some gear in the bed… say 200lbs at all times.

    Thanks again,
    Adam

the +1 +2 +3 CB shackles don't provide that inch amount of lift. it's just about half that

A coachbuilder +1 will get you .625" of lift. So not QUITE as high as you were guessing, but yes those values do compound. If you had them in tandem but also had a static 200lbs in the bed I would expect you to come to rest at about 1.9" over stock.

That Eibach kit is really nice for the price.
I’d really like for them to come out with a 2.5” diameter shock for a bit more fluid and ride comfort.

Thinking back, I think I needed 1.9” in front to get level. So, now I’d need about 3.8” up front to be level. I have a diff drop. But, am I getting into UCA replacement territory?

You don't want to be perfectly level in a Tundra IMO. With how the body/cab lines + the wheel well openings sit I personally feel as though a Tundra with about 1.5" of rear rake looks about level.

you're not really getting any more than 3" with a typical setup (without bracket/spindle trash) and the upper limit of that is UCA territory

example i'm doing 6112 at 1.9" with a 2/1 spacer so 2.4" front and CB +3 at 1.625" rear lift to keep rake for RTT, looks, and just use in general

that sounds just about perfect… analogous to what I’m going for in the rear.

i’ve added cb shims to the shopping list as well. 2 on passenger side and one on driver’s side.

in my mind, keeping more spring uncompressed is a good thing. My mind is a very confusing place however, so I have no idea if this is correct.

    Totally agree.
My 6112's set at 1.3" with 275/70's are the sweet spot for esthetics & mpgs, imo
