Yep, you know it first hand J. being in Jackson. Pretty soon you pull up to your fishing hole on a paved road and kids are swimming in it.
    I'll keep the shitty roads.
Side note: Ever feel like you push the limits of your truck to get up a trail barely scraping through and then find 2 Subarus up there at the trail head? Maybe I just fish too much in Colorado.

Heading up to WY for the Cutt Slam in another month and a half, and then a bunch of fishing through ID, UT and OR....so stoked to get on the road again! Seeing the waters is great motivation.

Jackson is a junkshow in the summer. Luckily there’s 20 million acres of public land to fish and most of the roads are shitty. I never fish or camp within sight of another person

Lol! All I've heard recently is the first part. I'm glad to know there is still plenty of 'unknown' area up that way.

Greetings from Gunnison CO. Had a great trip with my Dad and brother. 20230913_122013.jpg
Not a bunch of dry fly action, but a dropper fixed that issue.

Well, just got back from 3 weeks on the road, spent looking for a place to relocate to in a few years, and mostly fly fishing. Hit big waters and small, and added something like 7 new species to the list, 6 being native trout species. Caught a PB rainbow in Yellowstone on the one dry fly cast of the day, and completed my WY Cutt Slam as well as the first level of the WNTI.

The wife enjoying one of the camp spots somewhere in ID, I believe:

The personal best rainbow in Yellowstone...we were late in the season, and the weather was COLD....like sub freeing and snow for a few days, so the fish weren't doing their usual rises, but this dude was.

This hike had killer views and killer hiking...something like 1500' descent in 1 mile....and of course the opposite on the way back. Got a few bows and a few Lahontan Cutthroats from the water though.

Spent some time in NV as well, and caught probably 30 or more redound rainbows over the course of the day. No whitefish or bull trout though, so I'll have to go back for those and to complete my NV slam.

In WY, I did snag a whitefish, decent sized one too, and the views were spectacular.

The CRCT was the smallest and most difficult for me to catch, you can see how small a size 32 dry fly is!

Just posted a couple pics in the other fishing thread, but I was also just in Yellowstone Park, but didn't catch anything there as big as your rainbow @Fergie ! That's impressive! Caught several small browns and rainbows there. Then headed to Divide MT where I fished The Big Hole River and caught some bigger browns, rainbows, a few whitefish and two artic graylings (one which my guide said was second biggest he's ever seen). A few more pics here because why not?!

Had a great time and saw some amazing wildlife. Including a moose swimming across a lake. It was a great ten days. From Yellowstone up to Glacier.

Took one last trip up to UT before I head back to work next week. We went with the intention of getting some tigers, Bonnies and Grayling. Found the first two, didn't find the third, but did get a few nice brookies in a difficult to reach lake.

This was the sort of water we fished the first day and a half; didn't need waders on the higher sections as the water wasn't as wide. Fish were a bit spooky w all the pressure they'd seen, and it was concerning to see so many tigers in what should be Bonneville Cutthroat waters, but we had a good time none the less.

    Some decent tigers:

Found a random swing in the woods too...that was weird considering the water wasn't near deep enough:

Fun video of this dude just chilling and taking the small leech pattern I had on. He took off downstream and I almost lost him when he went under some logs....3wt and 6x would not have gone well, but was able to net him.
    https://photos.smugmug.com/Random-p...8E9AA5B0-9328-4158-AD41-89EA8E1434AB-1280.mp4
    [IMG]

We hiked in a few miles to a pair of lakes....this was the first one:

The hike sucked....damn near all deadfall scrambling, up and down hills, and thick forests. Found a somewhat easier way out, but we were beat for sure. The second lake only had tigers, not the graylings we wanted, but the first lake, the picture above, had decent brooks and bonnevilles. Caught them in the exact same spot about 10 mins apart.

Our last spot yesterday gave us a bunch of bonnies and a few tigers, so many that it wasn't worth netting and taking pics....just fun fishing. My brother has a WeBoost on his truck and was able to get a good set of LTE bars....which let us see the UDOT cam we were under, so we moved our trucks to get a screen shot!

Hi all, new member here. Thought I’d say hello to who appear to be my people. Avid fly fisherman from Washington. Picked up this 05 about a year ago as a fishing rig and made a few upgrades/improvements. IMG_4260.jpgIMG_4304.jpg

Welcome Joe. Beautiful drift boat and 1st Gen. 'My people' love it. I'm in Missouri (ie nothing too interesting) but we go west and or north every year to wet a line in more interesting places. You've got some great water sheds up in your neck of the woods. Feel free to share some more pics!

Yeah you know a lot of people picture the Rocky Mountain states when thinking fly fishing Mecca, but Washington has some underrated fisheries for sure. Here’s a few from my home river and Washington’s only blue ribbon stream. IMG_8905.jpgIMG_7442.jpgIMG_7021.jpg

I wish I knew you when I lived in Fed. Way I always wanted to catch salmon and bows while I was up there.

I’m going to be making a trip up to Montana this summer with my wife. We’ll fly into Bozeman and then make our way up to Glacier NP for a few days and then back to Bozeman for our flight out… anyone from around those parts that could give any DIY trip info/intel?

I know we’re planning on hitting the Gallatin before making our way up north, but open to local expertise and experience!!

If you nymph, people judge you. Dries/topwaters and streamers. Doesn't matter what kind of water. Anything worth catching eats both of those.
