Anyone else get a weird grinding/rubbing noise coming from the back of the truck at low speeds and low rpms? Happens to me when lightly accelerating under 30mph when the rpms are in the 1200-1300 range. Was loud when pulling my 7500# travel trailer. Didn't have any issues other than that on a 1200 mile trip towing. Can't figure out where it's coming from.

Have your dealer check it/Warranty. Concerning sound was louder under towing stress. Axle, gears, pinion issues come to mind

Thanks, made the 15k service appointment and having them look at this next week. Definitely need to know what the noise is. Taking the truck and trailer on a 4k mile 2 week trip this summer.

Unfortunately like many other things they were unable to duplicate the condition and said they saw nothing wrong. Hopefully I don't find out there is something really wrong with it when I'm pulling my trailer up a mountain pass into Yellowstone.

Did you have them inspect the rear diff and put it in writing that everything checked out? Just because THEY don’t hear something doesn’t mean there isn’t something wrong. My service department tried telling me the hum/drone I was hearing from my rear diff was most likely tire noise. I asked for their master mechanic to take a look, and sure enough, my diff was falling apart. Truck is currently having the rear diff replaced under warranty.

They said they had the master mechanic check everything they could think of and everything checked out normal. Same thing happened when I told them every once in a while I get a clunk noise and feels like it's not shifting right when hitting the accelerator after coasting on the highway. Said they drove it and everything was normal.

Whenever I tell them I'm having an issue it almost seems like they aren't paying attention and don't really care. I might need to take it to a different dealership.

I have a clicking sound coming from mine on the regular. I believe it is the bed to frame causing the noise. There is a thread here somewhere about it. Toyota failed to put a gasket or washer between the aluminum bed rails and the frame. So they make noise. I was going to put some washers in this weekend to see if that solves my issue. You may have the same problem.

Mine is not a clicking but more a metal on metal rubbing or grinding noise at low rpms when accelerating. About 1200rpm is where I hear it most when the truck shifts into a higher gear at lower speeds. Left multiple messages with the advisor I've been working with and they don't return my calls. Not sure what to do at this point as I don't want to cancel my trip and I don't trust the truck.
