I installed these and I don't think they're working right. I get maybe a bit of heat but maybe not, its subtle. I decided to dummy proof it and run it straight to the battery with a fuse to make sure power wasn't the problem. I get a light on the switch, but there's a new "green" wire that I'm not sure where to put. I tied it into something that was open near the USB plug. I don't know, directions kinda suck.

Ended up leaving the seats on during a 30 min drive and now they work. Maybe just needed to get something going? I don't know. Weird issue.

Does anyone have a more recent link of the kit on Amazon they’d recommend both OP and another link on this thread seem to be dead now

I honestly just went on eBay and ordered a set with plugs I liked. I can get you the link of the ones I got if you like.

I like those. I only had one blank spot so I went with the small circular rocker switches.

I went back and read the one review that was visible. It says they suck and don't get hot. Dammit! I really like those controls. I have an SR, so I have many blanks.
I wonder if other heating elements would be compatible to swap out, if I order them and they don't get hot enough.

Ironically, I just looked at my past order and it’s no longer available so I can’t post a link. Mine get very hot on the high setting. Hotter than factory IMO

anyone have a wiring diagram for how they wired these? I was planning on tapping the power outlet in the console as well but figured maybe it would be smart to see exactly what others are doing, I've watched multiple youtube videos and seen everything from people tying them into the battery directly, to tapping into power outlet, but it's not clear where to use the accessory wire and where to use the power wire if you're tapping in. Ground is obvious but would just love to use the same setup someone has that is installed and has been working for a while so I'm not doing this twice

What switches are you using. OEM style or round universal?

there are more connections with the OEM style

    Gotcha

I don't see all wires listed / function of that switch - but I'll list all of mine (4) wires per kit. Or I missed it in the descriptions.

    1. 12V power ~ below
    2. Ground ~ below

    upload_2023-4-7_14-10-33.jpg

Mine had (4) wires total in my (1) outlet. (2) power (2) ground. I couldn't tell if both center console and rear console were tied together.

    3. Switch power ~ I ran an add a fuse to the interior fuse boxed label seat heat
    4. Switch Illumination ~ I tapped my anytime rear camera illumination switch (below HVAC controls) wire since it was close. From a pigtail cargo light harness. (below) but can use anything close by like the shift gate light wiring etc.

    upload_2023-4-7_14-14-0.jpg

I will say it might be a lot for two seats but I mainly got them for the wife so will probably only run one seat at a time. Running directly to the batter would be a better overall application. I just wanted to use what I had close by.

I've tested them three times and they got pretty warm.

Last, I completely terminated the center console cig port. I never used it anyway and have three others close by.

Interesting. I haven’t had an issues with mine. Especially in the cold. I can feel the heat on mine come on within like 2 minutes of turning them on.

I recently purchased ^^^these^^^ switches to replace the 3-pole, button type rocker switch(s) currently installed on my seats. Has anyone else attempted this job? If so, any insight you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Post #75 on this thread used them but as the whole kit. I don't see any reason why you couldn't just splice in the wiring.

This is the switch(s) ONLY. If you want the heaters, they are also available.

I just installed the Rostra 250-1870-TOY kit - https://www.mnrelectronics.com/250-1870-toy-seat-heater-toyota-vehicles-w-custom-switch/. So far I only have done the passenger seat, but I also grabbed the Rostra 250-2951 - https://www.mnrelectronics.com/250-2951-source-power-plus-w-switch/ To power it on automatically when the truck starts and off when it turns off.

Initial thoughts.. the seat heaters and switch are awesome! They work very well, and took like 3 hours taking my time to do it all.

The only issue I have is that the Source Power Plus isn’t relaying properly. It is keeping the seat heater on until you turn off the seat switch. Then it relays off and doesn’t come back on until you turn the truck on again. “Reprogramming” it according to the instructions doesn’t seem to do anything.

Anyone on here ever use this - and did you get it to work? It’s wired correctly (yellow to the battery, black to the frame, and red to the positive for the seat heater), so my only other thought is does it not work like the directions say? I have seen the 20 flash mode and confirmed it, so it should be in power mode.

Anyway, it’s a very nice upgrade that my wife has been disappointed that my truck didn’t have seat heaters, and now it does! So thanks for posts like this and all your help in advance!

    I don't see the point of the power-plus switch.

I tapped the seat heater power into the 12V socket circuit in the console, they only get power when the truck is 'on'.
If you want the seat heaters 'on' when you start the truck, make sure they are 'on' when you shut the truck off.
They will come on when you restart the truck.
You're already doing that with the power-plus switch, right?

Used the inline fuse that came with the kit..

Only reason I installed seat heaters was for the wife.
But I find myself using them a lot more than I thought I would..

it allowed me to not take the power from the 12 V outlets. The point of that would be to allow those to still run at full power for other accessories.

I added a voltmeter with USBs for one of mine in the dash.
But I only use the USB if the wife needs to charge her phone...:D
