I agree manufacturing tolerance could be the difference. Consider something less extreme than filling in the whole gap so you can manually fold the mirror. Just a thought. But wonderful find none the less.

I tried ordering a vortex generator and sticking it to it with a blue tape. It didn't work. I'm planning to take it to the dealer and see if they have a solution.

The dealership replaced my driver side mirror and fixed this problem in doing so. It was not a big deal, just one of the things done at my 5k service.

Thats cool. So far we didn't have any reports of mirror replacement resolving the issue.

My mirror stop whistling on its own after about 2k miles

Is it possible that they also replaced the rubber runner seal between top of the window and door frame?

My whistling less during the summer time. Maybe the rubber seal expands during warmer weather? If it comes back in colder temperature, I'll ask them to replace

Does anyone here know if there's a thread on gap tolerance for headlight and hood spacing?

I have the same issue on my 2022 tundra sr5 off-road package crewmax.
Haven’t tried fixing it yet but it’s so annoying and usually happens post 55ish mph like started before by others.

I posted this in another thread somewhere but I had whistling from drivers side between 35-40 mph. I taped some things up and isolated the noise. On mine it was whistling on the inside of the pivot points with the mirrors in the outward position. There are two black plastic pads and one is slightly raised. I used clear hockey tape which is very pliable. I taped over the two pads and the noise is now gone. Here are pics of what I did

I picked up a 2024 a few weeks ago and this was the first 'issue' I noticed. Plan on mentioning it to the dealer, but may try one of the tape fixes in the meantime. Thanks.

Wow that's good you figured it out. I waited on mine and dust/dirt may have filled in some hole and the mirror stop whistling after about the first 2-3k miles. They had to replace driver window runner though to completely get rid of whistling sounds.

You should tape it up and find exact spot that causes the whistling, otherwise dealer will be looking for it forever... Read through this thread on all the possibilities and what to tape

Has anybody had any luck using any materials (tapes preferably black) that will work for the auto folding mirrors? I have a brand new ‘24 TRD pro that I just purchased the other day at my local dealer and have a terrible whistling noise above 55 mph from at least the driver side mirror (not sure about the passenger side) that goes away when I use my hand to cover the front of the pivot point. I can hear it windows open/closed.

You have to pinpoint the exact area what's causing the whistling.

Take white or blue painters tape, tape up all of the seals and gaps around the mirror and the window and door and take it off little by little to determine which area is causing the whistling, then take photos and show it to your dealer once you figure it out.

I had same issue with mirror supposedly causing whistling, but it was actually the rubber window runner. Again, tape it up and figure out what's causing it exactly.

I went ahead and took a trip this afternoon and still heard the whistling. so I taped the mirror pivot points from the front over the top, the whistling sound was gone. I only have 60 miles on it and frustrating to say the least. Some road noise is expectable, but the high pitch whistling sound is like nails on a chalkboard. I am going to look around this weekend to find a tape solution that will work the best. I am looking at either the hockey tape, clear repair tape, or possible even the felt side of velcro to help seal up the gap. Looking for something not blaringly obvious when the doors are locked and mirrors folded.

I am having the exact same issue (24’ Limited). I have tried electrical tape over the gaps up front, it solved it for a little while until I was riding in some gusty winds and came back. Any further recommendations?

You guys supposed to use tape to pinpoint issues and show dealer exactly where noise is coming from, then let them do their job and fix it for you

Did that and unfortunately were not able to pin point it. The dealer attempted too at multiple occasions and weren’t able to pin point either

    How is that possible?

Step 1. Tape up everything. Is the noise gone? If yes go to step 2.

Step 2. Remove tape little by little and keep driving around to test, at certain point you'll hear noise comeback - it came from the piece of tape you removed last. Show that spot to the dealer and have them start swapping out seals for window, door, etc

Did exactly that, thought it was coming from the bend (noise came back as I uncovered, and covered back up). It stopped the whistle for a while, but in gusty conditions and seems at a certain angle it comes right back.
Showed them the location and came up with the same “issue” I was having

I thought the same, but after 3 different appointments and leaving it for multiple days they told me they couldn’t do anything or figure it out and that was the end until something is reported by Toyota

SauceBoss, try the clear hockey tape like I showed a few post up. It sticks well and is very pliable. Just cover up those black plastic pad thingys inside the mirror. Mine has held up for over a year with no whistling. Again mine was specific to the 30-40 mph range. Good luck

okay! I have been using electrical tape at the location you showed. But I will try hockey tape and someone also mentioned foam tape.
Yeah mine starts around 45mph and higher

Why not just use paper painters tape? Easy to remove and leaves no residue.
