General Supercharger Thread

Wow, that video really did show nothing. I actually wonder if this would address the alcohol % issue on the FFV trucks since it actually looks at true ethanol content. No idea how that integrates with the stock ECU though. I’m just very curious about how this could be used to our advantage lol.

 

The video that I watched of their install on a Hellcat said that it was a piggyback. To me that says that it's just manipulating what the ECU sees, so I don't know how it would respond, if at all. I know that I ran a piggyback on my Tacoma and it and the ECU were always fighting for control, not to say that's what would happen here. We need to find the owner of that Tundra in the video and track them down...

In the comments of that video, someone asked about a month ago if it was compatible with a S/C and they responded in the positive.

Well geez I'm behind the curve here lol. Why is the EQ commanded flatlined like this, it isn't tracking with B1/B2 or A/F at all?? @Grenades4Bacon your MAF can't be dialed in if closed loop. What tune are you running? Stock narrowbands can only read down to . 81 lamba I believe but your commanded and A/F should be tracking close. Also is your PE table tuned? Here's a log I took earlier for reference, middle column in WOT EQ commanded and A/F are close, EQ1/2 maxed. This is where you want to fine tune IC/MAF/PE to match or how I try to do it.

 

Good info. I also think he is not tuning it, working with OTT. But hopefully he can pass on the info to get it dialed in. I also thought @snivilous reached out to give a basic tune but not sure what came of it. Guess no bueno...

 

Hmm oh okay. Hard to tell without a full datalog on what he has going down but something ain't jiving that's for sure. Was OTT Orange virus tuning at one point with the Tacoma's?

I was just wondering if they changed their name. Ran a Orange Virus Tune, OVT on my 16 Tacoma back in the day when I was on Taco forums.

Disregard, looks like Orange virus is now VF tuners not OTT

 

I did but he only has the RTD device as I recall so nothing I could do.

 

Looks like the bypass wouldn't be too hard to install on my tundra. The harness is easy, and I can get access to install the plates thru the wheel well.

Do you know of a source that walks thru the mod?

 

I'm almost positive that Hewitt put out a YouTube video for the install of their bypass...check there. Unless you were looking for a video for the removal of the pumps/entire system.

 

I'm a cheap bastard and will try to save or repurpose items if I can. I had a shoddy SC tune from Toyota. Buying the HPT was the best thing I did. There are several SC owners on here who had the generic RTD device tune for their supercharger tune. They stated it was night and day between the canned tune and a personalized one. Plus super helpful people to help troubleshoot.

 

Do most of you guys run traction bars? Been browsing and all I see for the most part is BDS/Caltrac/SQHD.

 

If your referring to the SAIS bypass or filter swap NO it won't fail. The Hewitt and Rutech are wired in nicely and the block off plates are not noticeable. The pickup filters are inside the right wheel well.

 

I'm actually building a set like the bds. I got some free DOM tubing. Ordered some heims, bushings and shock tabs from Ruffstuff. Im hoping to get the benefit of traction bars and rear sway bar as it should tighten it up. So going to finish it up today or tomorrow. Its only 2 bolts each side to take off if needed. Gotta drop the gas tank, but im used to that haha.
Most like the Caltracs and highly recommended too.

 

Yeah I've seen a lot of caltrac talk when searching the forums. I know @nobodyintexas likes his caltracs. I've got a 2013 so assuming the 8110 kit works... though I'm not sure what the core refund would be for.

Interesting to hear that you're building your own. Is this to be better than others offered on the market, or just to save some cost? There are no 'cheap' options out there, but the caltracs seem to be the most reasonable. SQHD, like everything else they sell, is very pricey. Not sure it's worth the extra $$... regardless of how much more beefy they appear.

Seems like it can't hurt to add traction bars.

Caltracs I think want the rear leaf mounts for cores?
