I thought I had the alignment good enough for a couple of days of driving to settle the suspension.
I drove about 50 miles yesterday and the steering was heavy at speed, with some feathering wear to the inside of the treads. Set up a string line box this morning and sure enough both sides were toe'd out 3/16-3/8 inch

Corrected that to give them a rough .20 of toe in combined. Drives like silk now.

I pulled the bed bolts so I wouldn't be in for any surprises when I went to remove it for the rear suspension work.

This was the worst of the bunch, and the one I figured I would have to weld a nut to.
    20240630_091750.jpg
They all got a liberal coat of antisneeze and lightly reinstalled
    20240630_091017.jpg

T-a day or two for rear suspension. As it sits the rear is 1-1 1/4" low.

Terrible photo, but you get the idea.

Thanks my brother from a Michigan mother!

I forgot That there's still a full rear axle and set of leaf springs in the bed. I should probably take that into consideration.

The build thread for the bumper can be found here

@JakeJake you got a press & dies? That 2x3 or whatever square tubing section i want I-beam. And a hydraulic hinged stinger to mount my spare & a spare knuckle/hub assembly to. Lay the spare down to the ground to use as a step for short people to ogle the engine bay. Lift it a little bit to sort obsatacles left & right...maybe upset someones cruise control for camping on the left lane. Lift it halfway and have pressure valves to vent for brake checkers. Glass breaker at the tip.

I'd be willing to bet that that 2x3x3/8 is comparable to some 10" beam. The real weak point is the paper mâché frame behind the crossmember.

What if the front winch controlled the up/down?

Yup, companies are actively using AI and misc algorithms to test limits of how much they can charge for goods and services these days, completely independent of the actual value of the dollar, and that's directly driving current inflation (greedflation). When things are priced in lock-step with the value of the dollar, and you gradually raise the pricing while the dollar maintains its value, that is literally textbook 'inflation', and I'm not sure why so many Americans are ignorant of that reality (suddenly the value of a dollar is worth less, without the actual value of the dollar changing). We're basically all getting gouged, and as much as people love to blame it on whoever is sitting in the WH, it's actually corporations at the heart of it - I guess the money they spend in the media scapegoating our elected representatives is paying off in dividends, eh? Add that inflation in with the fact similar inflation is happening with housing, especially in the rental sector, where there's a fed lawsuit incoming for one of a couple of rent pricefixing schemes going on because those assholes have been pricefixing for too many years already, and the average person is getting pinched at every corner. It sucks.

But to that point, I've been going out of my way to avoid theme parks and pay-to-play events with the kids this summer. Anything to save some $$$. Today, it was yakking at Stone Mountain, we'll probably hike out there tomorrow. Oh and @FishNinja, "tag", this is how that situation ended up going. Yaks in, close and lock tailgate, zip-strap to the nose straps. Worked like a champ. I doubt the camper door was happy about it, but almost all interstate/hwy to get there, so it is what it is. Thanks for the advice!

That’ll come out with the impact. You just need to clean out the rust in the recess. I’m not sure if the non-impact torx bit will work or break though. I just bought an impact compliant t-55 from Napa to get it done.

Spent 3 nights at my favorite spot in the state. It was a busy weekend up there, like 50 kids and 17 dogs in the camp ground. We did pretty good fishing, caught 3 hold over keepers on trout or watermelon spoons. Saw a bear last night as we went to the lookout for sunset, my son found a snake in the bathroom(as if he needed another reason to not use the vaults)
All and all it was a great trip with some fun people, even @des2mtn made the trek!!!

Amazing! Upper 50s and night and upper 70s if that during the day. Got some light showers the first morning and a little more yesterday afternoon and apparently last night……. There were reports of bear in our campsite at night but it was just me snoring hahaha

Perfect! I need to check it out one day, but have heard the road to it isn't great for those like me towing a decent sized travel trailer.

Yeah definitely not, the camp host had a single axle, maybe 20’? And that’s probably as big as you wanna bring up there, there’s at least 4 super sharp hair pin switch backs(out of the like 80 going up) that would definitely be sketchy with a longer trailer. My buddy with intact bearings in his 3rd gen brought his lil camp trailer, he let us use his instant hot water shower setup……. My B hole was appreciative!

it would be a good day trip if you got a spot at roper state park/lake with the trailer, I think roper is just as close as patty

That's a good idea, but in winter. Roper is way too fucking hot now, even with plug-ins and AC in the trailer.

Is the Denso 130amp 210-1065 alternator being discontinued?

it has been out off stock on most popular website. I have found it on sketchy websites.

Damn, maybe I shouldn't have sold my extra 130A.

Y'all may want to buy from Toyota then, they still have stock and the pricing isn't horrible-horrible. @jerryallday => https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/reman-alternator-2uzfe-270600f04084

I was surprised to find the 100A and 130A use the same brush assembly and regulator parts for my truck. (link if that's interesting)

I guess I should keep eyes on the Sequoia 150A and snatch one of those up when the supply starts dwindling, still on the fence about that upgrade later and it's not like it'll hurt to have it sitting on a shelf. Looks like it may actually gain value, in reality.

One of these upgrades would probably be a good idea if I plan on running a plow on the old girl wouldn't it. Funny how this was crossing my mind and... the topic pops up.
