Thanks man! It sounds absolutely fantastic. If you got the fix86, make sure you got the drc-200 knob or else you may have some hiss at low volume

The stock head unit applies a sound curve that makes the factory speakers sound the best. Best thing to do is eliminate the curve and flatten it, but not 100% must do. Giver er a try with what you got and can always add one if it doesn't sound right for you

How so? You want to see through the speaker grill? The door panel look exactly the same as when the stock speaker was installed.
    No protrusions.

so even with the (up to 1" spacer from what I have read), a new speaker fits inside the panel.. and no visual differences...
if thats the case.. great.. (was about to take my door panel off to see just how much room there is for spacer.. (have read the clearance to the glass is 2.95")

    thanks

No visual differences with the panel, everything fit back to how it was pre-install.

if you are going to have to strip more than 1 wire, you will want auto strippers. Good item to add to the tool box.

Great info here Danimal86. I'm using the Fix86 and C5 speakers too. Wondering how using the factory speaker wire works out. Is it heavy enough w/ your amp? Also any issues mounting the crossovers in the doors? I'm using the C5-650'S in the rear and got a good deal on Ebay for some ZR-650's for the front. You had no room issues in the doors? The ZRs are larger and I'm worried, .25 inches thicker and maybe an inches all the way around. Think they'll fit?

What amp are you using for powering the doors. Unless your running a bazillion watts, you should be good with the factory wires going to the door speakers.

I didn't have any problems mounting the crossovers, it took a couple tries to get the right spot, but if you look at the back side of the door panel, around the big foam block you have some room to work with.

If the zr's are a bigger diameter, you should still be ok. The factory speaker is a 6x9 in the front so the speaker hole is big.

I'm not sure about the mounting depth of the ZR's. What you could do, is find a factory replacement speaker, figure out what depth that is, and add 3/8" for your speaker adapters and see if those line up. I feel like there was a little extra room from the speaker to the inside of the speaker grille, so you could add an additional spacer, but ymmv.

I didn't use the harness from Amazon. I got one from tech12volts.
I think tundratex's build had more info on it.

Not worried about the ZR speakers for space. I have adapters from Tech12volts so good there. Just worried about the crossover size, they're larger. Might mount the front crossovers near my amp since there are already two wires going to the front doors and the C5 crossovers in the rear doors. James from Tech12Volts said the same about the speaker wire size. Thanks for the info.

    Are they taller or wider?

There is plenty of room to work with. Worst case is you would need to extend the wires to and from the crossover and mount it further away.

About .25 in. thicker ...4.7"x5.8"x1.7". The C5'S are 3.36"x4.7"x1.44". I'm using a PDX-V9 Alpine 5 channel amp. Pulled it from my Wrangler before I traded it. Should work good along w/ a Fix-86 w/ DRC-200 and 10" subs. I might try to put the amp and Fix under the back seat. I had it under the seat in the Jeep and never liked it there.

You should be able to find a spot to fit them. It may take you a couple tries, but you'll find a spot.
I bet that pdx is about the same size as the hd, it should fit under the front seat nicely, especially since all the wiring is already there for the stock amp.

anyone familiar with the ACR-2 audio control bass adjuster? Is the knob suppose to just keep spinning or should the knob only suppose to turn so far?
