I have that exact setup, xtrusion overland rack, decked system, softopper, they work well, although I have not removed the softopper with the decked drawer in there yet, I don't see it being a problem.

I’ll take a look at FasTop also. Thank you!

outstanding. Thank you for the input. Do you happen to have pics you’ve posted? Would love to see INSIDE the set up as well. Having never seen one in person, I’m just struggling to wrap my head around how to best set it up for my wants/needs. Really appreciate your feedback!

The proper clamps from Softopper arrived and I got the top installed properly. The rails still twist inward a little, but nothing like before. I was planning on using the velcro and flexible magnet method to attach it to the tailgate, but with a bed lined tailgate the magnets were not strong enough to stick. Scouring the Tacoma forum I found a different approach that looks like it will work well. I ordered some high power magnets, cut a slit in the velcro, and slipped them in from the end. Easy, and they seem to do the trick. I need to order a few more as I purchased a 20 pack and it wasn't enough to span the full length. These are the magnets:

It's a tailgate from a Devolro Tundra, purchased as a replacement for my very dented one. I had hoped to be able to remove the badge, but they bed lined over it so it is bare underneath the badge. Not sure what to do with it as it is quite an eye sore. They also filled in the original Tundra emblem which is lame. Devolro appears to be a company that makes some monstrously ugly trucks.

All the components work together as mentioned above. The XO rack doesn't allow the softtopper to be folded down without removing the pins and doing some manual adjustments. I haven't pulled the trigger on one for that reason. The UpTop overland softtopper racks claim to enable full functionality of the softopper because you can raise the top load bars a little higher than other brands.

Had mine for about 5 years now, it's great! I always have it up during camping season and usually strip down during the winter unless I'm covering for road trips and travel

And the magnets just attach to bed itself?

Yes the magnets stick directly to the tailgate, the soft side velcro is against the paint. Works pretty well so far. I ended up adding some magnets to the front flap as well since I had some leftover.

Are the 3 rd gen tailgates still iron?

I'd hate to find out that the tailgate is aluminium. The magnets wouldn't work.

I see, so does the rough side of the velcro with the magnets in it just stick to the softopper flap? or did you have to sew it/glue it?

I cut a little slit in the Velcro with an Xacto knife and slid the magnets between the Velcro and the outer vinyl skin of the back window flap. They stick to themselves end to end via magnetism and made a nice continuous magnetic flap, semi-flexible too. There is no rough side of the Velcro, the only thing to purchase is the magnets. These magnets are much stronger than the tape stuff too. I originally purchased a roll of magnetic tape and it wasn't strong enough to magnetize to my tailgate (bed lined).

And when you say cut a slit in the “Velcro” you are talking about the Velcro that comes already pre attached to the soft topper flap?

Yep you got it, in the picture I am in the process of sliding the magnets in the slit. I pushed a magnet about halfway in then connected the next. I made the slit up a little from the bottom so the magnets would not slide back out the slit, but the velcro self-healed anyways and I am confident they will not come out. I would say you still might want to add paint protection film to the tailgate to keep it from getting scratch up over time.

Has anyone looked at a WildTop topper?

I really want a softtopper because I still use my bed to haul stuff, but would also like to be able t mount an awning as well as I camp out of my truck often. I really dont want to do the over the topper rack. WildTop seems to do almost what I need, but does not fold up.

Do you have to use Datin Fab cage offered on Soft toppers website? Or are there other compatible cages that can be used around the soft topper?
